The fake punt almost worked

Saw the replay. UF had 2 guys defending the wide side. We had 2 guys blocking that side. And one of our guys completely missed trying to block the guy who was closest to making the tackle (had Elliot not have slipped). If that guy gets chip blocked, wouldn't even have to be a good block - just get in the way......and Elliot doesn't slip, the play goes for big yards. The other UF defender slipped himself and even if that goes doesn't slip, we have a blocker there to support the cut that Elliot was trying to make.

On the replay the play was a lot closer to working than I though from seeing it live.

This was like the incomplete pass at the end of the LSU game. People question the call, but it damn near worked.

Is Bumphis on the punt team? You bring him in and you send a message that you are faking the punt. I thought the same thing though. Bumphis probably gets that 1st down. Assuming UF doesn't figure out he is on the field until it is to late.

UF may suspect that something is a afoot, but I would take that chance rather than take a chance with a guy with a bum knee.

Maybe just to get downfield quickly and make a tackle. Or you could always have Elliot fake a leg cramp before the play and Mullen casually sends out Bumphis instead.

would actually more attention than just sticking Bumphis out there at some random time. It would be humourous though.

Sure Bumphis is a play-ah, but he's not on the punt team for a reason. Heavens could be on the punt team I think, if he isn't on there currently.

Or hell, let's run it with Johnathan "take it to the house" Banks. Surely we can get away with having a safety on the punt team.
