That definitely won't help their cause
And you are right- Northwestern State is to college baseball coaches as Miami of Ohio is to football coaches. If he goes to USM, it will be because he wants to be back close to home.
You can't really beat a SEC job, though. Mizzou is going to have to step up if they are going to be compete in the SEC- they may have a new coach next year, and they are going to have to pump a lot of money into their program. I don't know if they will do it- they have to compete with the Cardinals and Royals- that's a tough sell for any college coach unless they hire Tony LaRussa or Whitey Herzog.
I think Alabama will give Gaspard at least another year- I don't think he is in trouble. They held on to Jim Wells too long, and him doing his Brett Favre impression of retiring and then un-retiring hurt their program. As long as Saban wins NC, I'm not sure their fans care about baseball that much anyway, which should buy him even more time.
Auburn- I could see that depending on how they finish. It's kind of ironic since they hired Pawlawski at the same time as Cohen and he lived off of players Butch recruited for the first couple of years, but he obviously hasn't been able to keep that up. It's almost the opposite of Cohen's tenure here. Casey Dunn of Samford used to play there and they may go after him.
Perno should have been gone a few years ago. He either has a really good season or a really bad season without much in between. They should be a LOT better than they are. They are in a gold mine as far as baseball talent. I have to wonder if they will turn to Ron Polk for advice given his ties to that program, and maybe we see someone like Brian Shoop or Tommy Raffo end up there if they decide to make a change? Is a Georgia version of Polk II out of the question? Or do they go off on their own and hire someone like Burroughs or Casey Dunn at Samford?
