wow. The post about the fire flood website has already gotten over 9600 views in just a day and there are a whopping total of 77 people who have donated!! Stop the presses, we have 0.8% of the people interested enough to open the thread to actually open their wallets. Barchi must really be taking notice. Thats about 0.1% of all the fans who sit in the stadium! At this rate Rutgers will have had a full share of big ten revenue for ten years before enough $$ is raised to hire a new coach!

Maybe Barchi can set up a meeting room somewhere and invite all 77 of you to discuss why he doesn't have the funds to replace the head coach

A lot of those views are also visiting school fans, unaffiliated lurkers and people that have no interest in firing Flood enough to open their wallets.

Currently there are 77 donations (some of them by the same donors). I would expect to raise $3-4k every week or so over the next month. The amount isn't really important. The awareness it gets is important.

its a joke that the editors at the star ledger would allow an article to be written about this website since the participation rate in donations made is so laughably small. That does not indicate any real commitment from any segment of the fan base to commit to this. Typical of nj.com. Almost as effective as people who think the relatively small # of posters on this board boycotting nj.com will make an appreciable dent into their online readership

As mentioned in other threads, all of the money donated to this campaign goes to the Rutgers University Foundation. Even if some rich alum/fan donated the entire $1.5 million tomorrow Rutgers is under no obligation to fire Flood now or never. All this fund does is remove/reduce on barrier to removing Flood and can then make the decision purely based on his performance (rather than financial concerns).

Additionally, you keep asking people to donate to the bELieve Fund instead of this fund. Are you against all donations to the Rutgers University Foundation? Do you think everyone who donates to the Rutgers University Foundation should instead be donating the the bELieve fund? Since you are advising others to not donate here and instead donate to the bELieve Fund, can I assume you never donate the the Rutgers University Foundation and instead choose to only donate to the bELieve Fund?

My own personal opinion is that charitable donations are a great thing in general, and people should be encouraged to donate the charitable funds that are most aligned with their own interests. If that is the bELieve Fund, Great! If that is the Rutgers University Foundation, also Great! Personally I think both charities are fantastic and very worthy of donations.

What I stated above was facts. 77 out of 9600+ works out to an actual number. So does 77 of of 54,000 seast at the stadium

Nonsense is setting up a website to collect donations in support of raising money to hire a new coach. Now there's a way to sabotage a recruiting class - likely the ulterior motive

they've had 82 people in one day with basically the only people knowing about it from this website. Just wait and see what happens as the story gets passed around the Internet and into the news.

FWIW, that numerator is getting bigger, not smaller (its actually 82 as of a few minutes ago). The question is at what point does the participation % become meaningful. 5%? 10%? More?

I don't know the answer. That is something JH will have to figure out.

Site's been up barely 24 hours yet. It's a Sunday. Site was set up last night. So that's 77 donors in about 24 hours.

I haven't donated yet, but will soon, I'm sure there are others who will too, especially once people realize that the money goes directly to RU regardless of the immediate status of Flood.

Too early to tell yet. Results next Sunday will give a better indication of effectiveness.

The 77/9600 math doesn't work, though. I've probably viewed that thread 10 times today myself (I keep getting subscription alerts and MUST check them!), and I haven't made a donation to the gofundme each time.

Website is already serving its purpose. It has gained attention and I am sure that Julie and others know about it. The amount of money collected is almost immaterial.

Why don't the various NJmedia donate to get real coaches at Rutgers? Wouldn't they stand to gain a lot by covering a winner?

Pernetti hired Fludd to solve a short term problem, that was his mistake, when you hire a coach you hire for the long term. Fludd did what he was hired to do, keep that class together...anything else he accomplished was gravy, (not much).

It amazes me that some folks are worried about losing a class that is far below the one that Fludd was hired to save, I don't care if they all decommit getting rid of Fludd is far better for the long term health of this program than keeping him.

It's still a better percentage of $ donated than what PSU did for victims of sexual assault at a football game after the Sandusky situation.

9600/77 =124 bucks per donor
20000/100000 = 20 cents per donor.

If you feel the need to start a thread questioning the effectiveness of the gofundme "Fire Flood" page after 24 hours of being active, then I suspect you're afraid that it will be quite effective. And if you don't understand the principle of many disgruntled fans/alumni offering to do their however small financial to make a point about the current head coach, then you're even more clueless than in your threads defending Laviano as starting quarterback.

Hmmm. Very similar to why Slyker is afraid to see Rettig get a real chance at playing time.

Yeah, I'm sure that people who donated only went to the site once and never checked back to see not only themselves but other donations adding up. Correct me if I'm wrong but those aren't unique viewers but rather likely a few hundred people viewing many times.
