Sorry this has nothing to do with the burger joint.

There are eight wrestlers who finished a tournament with five pinfalls.

Name them.

Yes, just D1.

No, not Hendrickson.

Wyatt maxed out at three pinfalls on two occasions.
He had 5 in an ncaa tournament just not the championships. Honestly didn’t think anyone has pinned his way thru the ncaa Championships with the exception of hodge and he had a first round bye so it was only 4. Oh well wrestling time looking forward to the answer now .

Hendrickson never had more than three in a tournament, including consolation matches. In 2021 and 2022 he had 1 in each first round. In 2023 he had three total, all on the backside. in 2024 he had one in the second round. And in 2025 he started with three straight before closing with two decisions.

Four of the eight pinned their way through the tournament.

Now it is time to come clean. When I came up with the question I had a filter on the data from 1950 - 2025. Turns out there were THREE guys who had five pins in 1948. Wild. But that was also a weird year where they use the tournament as a semifinal for the Olympic trials, wrestled freestyle (apparently to everyone's surprise), and used the black mark system rather than a traditional bracket.

The wild thing is that one of the five pinfall guys (John Fletcher) lost by pinfall to one of the other five pinfall guys (Bill Koll) and had to wrestle a sixth match as a result, which of course ended with him (Fletcher) securing the pinfall.

Gable got all falls in 1969

And I think he got 5 in 1970 because he wrestled a pigtail. Then he lost to Owings in the finals. In fact, both he and Owings both had all falls going into the final round.

Au contraire, mon frère. See the thread title.

That said, I would love to get my hands on some international results.
You just said NCAA trivia, not NCAA tournament. And since Rick Sanders was also an NCAA wrestler, it could be construed that his 5 pins in the 1972 Olympics would also count.

But I’m not Bushwood. I get your real point here. However I think most people would agree that getting 5 or more falls in a single Olympic competition is a pretty significant accomplishment. That would be a good piece of trivia to chase down. If we include GR, maybe Karelin has 5 in one Olympics.
