Just watched again last night. Still think it's great! Regarding the criticism of Rey's abilities, I think it's obvious she's familiar the Falcan and although she's admittedly never flown it she had enough wherewithal to get it off the ground. From there the force helped guide her through those amazing maneuvers.

I say that because At the end of the exillerating escape scene she and Finn are so exited and talking over each other so it's a little hard to follow, but Finn asks "how do you fly like that?" She excitedly says in disbelief "I don't know!" The action keeps going from there with the Falcan malfunctioning so they didn't have time to dwell on their escape.

Before that she showed a lot of fighting skill with the staff beating off those guys at the shipyard. I know the scenes been discussed, but I think it's worth reminding she didn't just barely get away from those guys, she whipped that *** pretty handily.

Also to address The criticism of Ren's abilities, in the saber battle with Rey although he was injured badly and not trying to kill her, only capture her, he was dominating her. She got a few jabs in but nothing much, was retreating and on her heals most of the duel. Only when he had her back to the cliff and was giving her a chance to surrender and offering to train her did the force intercede and seem to give her the power to fight him off. Surely Ren was even further weaken by that point.

He disposed of Finn fairly easily after an early wake up call when Finn got a jab or two in. This even though Finn did well with the Saber against storm troopers in the earlier attack.

Just wanted to share some of my observations.

I just finish watching it. I would love to read all 29 pages of comments but don't have that time luxury right now.
I thought it was pretty well done, great special effects and it segwayed nicely from the previous episodes.
The only question I have is, how much did they have to pay Mark Hamel for that 15 second non speaking cameo?

How much would they have had to pay him if he uttered a single syllable?

Probably the same. Him and Fisher got $1M each. Ford got something like $17M + $1M for the door incident, plus a percentage of the profits.

Ridley and Boyega only got like $300k each plus a percentage that kicked in for profits over $1B. Driver and Isaac were somewhere between Ridley/Boyega and Hamill/Fisher.

Broke down and bought TFA today.

Still great even on the small screen, although I definitely hope to see it again in theaters someday.

Also noticed that TFA is up to 92% on rotten tomatoes. ANH and ESB are both at 94%, RotJ at 80%, RotS 79% (?!), AotC 66%, and TPM 56%.

I've pre-ordered the Blu-Ray that's coming Tuesday. I guess I'm a little old fashioned, but I like having the disc vs a digital download.
