Very interested to see how the portal plays out. I think we have five guys, maybe four if Garrison leaves, coming back for sure. Three freshman. We are going to need at least four more transfers to go along with Kam. Let’s hope they’re pretty good.

Cal made it to the Elite Eight his first year with his style. Make Pope made it to the Sweet Sixteen in his first year with his style. Tonight was unacceptable. No gameplan
Cal had the most talented team in America and pulled a typical Cal choke against an average WVU team just like he did in 14/15 years at UK and only Anthony Davis saved him in 2012. Go root for Arkansas—-Troll

What a dumb post.

Cal had a returning Patrick Patterson, Darius Miller, DeAndre Liggins (plus Harris, Stevenson, etc. for depth), he had Eric Bledsoe and Daniel Orton were already committed here, etc. and had no transfer portal to go up against.

All Cal had to do was bring in 2 guys from his existing recruiting class (Wall & Cousins) and he was just about set.

And he got to face Cornell in the Sweet Sixteen.

Pope had ZERO returning players, was a month behind in the portal, etc., lost our "best player" and backup PG for the year, lost our starting PG and PF for long stretches of the year, etc.

Cal won 4 top-15 games in his first year.

Pope won 8 top-15 games in his first year.

Dumb, reactionary post.
I don’t believe Bledsoe was already committed.

Yeah I remember it actually being kind of a surprise when Bledsoe committed to Cal. We all thought he was bringing Xavier Henry from his Memphis class along with Wall and Cousins.

I don't know it was dumb as much as it was an emotional knee-jerk reaction.

Cal inherited Patrick Patterson, Daniel Orton, Darius Miller, Josh Harrelson, DeAndre Liggins, Perry Stevenson and Ramon Harris to go along with Cousins and Dodson who were committed to play for Memphis. He added Wall and Bledsoe after he was hired.

Pope inherited Walker Horn, Grant Darbyshire and a commitment from Travis Perry.

These situations are totally the same!

Haven't seen those two lineups laud out like that before - nice !

Excitement was higher for both new coaches though and i love that

It’s all going to come down to yearly payrolls! Give me the NIL budget I need, and UK’s future is bright with me as the HC!

Look no further than John Calipari… Dude can’t coach a hungry dog to a bone in steak, but yet, here we are!

Not that I didn't like this UK team but I just imagine what Coach Pope could have done with the team Cow had fielded this season.....

And I DO think Coach Pope will pull in better talent going forward. AND, Coach Pope actually coaches as well... Nothing but good things coming for Coach Pope and UK... I am thankful...

Pope returned ZERO points off the previous roster. He put the team together in 2 weeks.

Cal had "some guy" named Patrick Patterson who was 1st team SEC and scored 600 points the year prior

Try comparing Apples to Apples. Cal is gone, so don't be a "Cal Sucker."
