What do yall think? I'm tired of seeing us play CUSA teams in non-conference play. It always a "no-win" situation because "we are the SEC, we are supposed to annihilate the lower conferences." What about playing the bottom of the barrell BCS schools? Granted, I want bottom of barrell because we just flat out need wins, but I think it would also benefit perception on strength of schedule and the "no-win" situation. Also, State playing Duke, Iowa State, Purdue, and Arizona would have to sell more tickets than UAB, Houston, and Tulane, right? Am I crazy? And yes, I am assuming that we will get better in the next few years- big assumption- but that's what I'm thinking.</p>

Byrne has said that those type of road games (C-USA type games) are driveable road trips for MSU fans, and thus, something he prefers. There are also recruiting bases in New Orleans, Birmingham, Memphis and Mobile. How many fans would we take to Durham or Ames, not to mention Arizona? How many recruits do we compete for in those areas? I would suspect you will see us do a 2-1 or 3-1 with Georgia State very soon presuming Bill Curry is capable of getting the program off the ground. Additionally, our bottom of the barrel brethren are likely to be in the same boat we are - looking for winnable games and affordable two for ones. The home sales are probably not a factor. We are getting four SEC home games a year and 2-3 other teams. The "other teams" are not what sells the package.

Now, in an ideal situation, I would agree with you and would love to see some games like that, but it is not likely to happen any time soon.

Cue the 25 posts that say they would love to play Tulane in New Orleans every year.

and Some of those teams like Arizona can up and bite you.

CUSA has some creditability....better than some we play...and yep they can beat us also. Looks like Houston is ranked...better than beat Duke!

Hell, we are in the SEC...we need to play whoever is out there! If we take our lumps we take E'm!

I am not crazy to going to their stadium, but it may be something we need to do every couple of years. Our program needs the wins each year. While we may lose some, its better then playing a GA Tech or WV every year

And Veazey mentions in his Friday first word that Byrne has a verbal agreement on a future 3-1 as well as another agreement with an FCS team.

I had thought when Georgia State started their program that they would stay in the Colonial but are they looking to going to the Sun Belt? What with Georgia State using the Georgia Dome as a home field a lot of what you say makes sense.

of easy win and fun road trip.

Like I've said before, the days of getting non-return games against non-BCS schools are over. Might as well make the best of it. Going to Memphis, Birmingham, New Orleans and Atlanta are great trips to fun cities with large alumni groups. Hard to beat that.

I just can't recall the last time a I-AA/FCS team hosted a I-A/BCS team, but then most I-AA teams don't have a facility like the Georgia Dome.
