If the two teams playing the game are playing based on the clock visible to them and everyone in the stadium, why isn't that the OFFICIAL clock? Why have the OFFICIAL clock in someone's hand, pocket, booth or conference studio where those involved can't see it and is thus subject to manipulation? With today's technology, there is no reason the head official on the field can't control the OFFICIAL clock on the scoreboard, visible to everyone! Just asking why it's done the way it's being done which makes no sense!

I know a scoreboard operator in California (for both PAC10 and NFL games), and from what I understood that IS the official clock. Refs only keep the time when the scoreboard is not working correctly

There has never been 2 separate clocks and there aren't 2 separate clocks now. They made that up for UM and did so because no one will do anything about it. There is absolutely zero accountability in the world today. None.

Everyone knows the Big 10's statement was a bunch of bologna. Their statement was worse than not saying anything at all.

They just flat out stole the game from WMU and, like someone on here said, in 2 weeks nobody will care.

The stadium clock IS THE OFFICIAL CLOCK. The stadium clock is either run by an official or supervised by an official. Another official, on the field, keeps a clock as a backup. The backup comes into play if the official clock has a problem, or if there is a timing error.

There was no timing error.

If another clock was used, that would be counter to the rules and standard practice. There is no other legal clock. The replay people screwed up. I'm not sure why, but the cover story is bull shite.

The fact that there has not been ONE single person coming out and saying "oh, yeah, of course the Big 10's statement make sense" is telling. Literally, not a single person, on or off the record, has confirmed the existence of this mysterious clock they speak of.

NCAA should strip Michigan of the win. If the Big 10 can fabricate a second out of thin air, the NCAA can take it away.

Frankly, WMU's response to the whole thing has been as puzzling as the addition of the extra second. They more or less rolled over instantly, saying it wasn't the officials' fault they lost the game...when in fact the officials directly stole the game from them.

They should be pitching running screaming fits. I guess it's fait accompli. Michigan was gifted the win and nothing they can do or say will change that. But I sure as heck would not be complementary towards the refs. I'd flat out say "we won the game. the whole world saw we won the game. but the big 10 decided that wasn't allowed to happen. we know there's nothing we can do to change things, but this game was stolen from our players."
