just an FYI, the people that own City Bagel have rented out the building that currently houses The Grill. Once it moves to it's new location, they are planning on moving away from such a family type atmosphere and more to a bar scene. I have no idea about the name or anything like that, but the phrase "the way it use to be" was used several times.

Think it'll still have food, but it'll be like burgers, cheese sticks, beer, ect and not so much salmon or whatever..

I hope it stays open past 10, which is about when the Grill would close.

If I had to choose between the two, I would 100% take a sports bar type establishment where the Grill currently is, but City Bagel is a great place to eat lunch as well. I hope they keep City Bagel as is and take the Grill location and use it as a sports bar.

Heard from inside the restaurant biz that it was going to be a Varsity Grille, like the one in Oxford. Could be wrong, but that's what I was told.

As someone who lives in Oxford now I can tell you there is no way Varsity would work in Starkville. Varsity is very expensive at night and no one that I know of (college/graduate school age) ever goes to eat there. I hope whatever moves into the Grille is more affordable with a much better atmosphere than the Varsity here.

City Bagel isn't moving. The people that own it are just renting the building that The Grill is in now. They are going to open a bar up in the building that currently houses The Cotton District Grill.

But I have no idea what it will be like or what the name of it will be.

b/c the Grill is currently in a prime location in an area that is exploding.

And whoever moves into the Grill needs to make a small investment into some really good tvs that are over 27 inches and put them fewer than 10 feet off the ground.

Eatwithus group bought their condo unit. Tabor sold them the shell, eatwithus is paying to finish it out. And Dan may have wanted to double the rent in the old location, wouldn't have mattered, they were looking to move anyways because of the lack of parking. The new facility is going to be nice. If I can teach myself how, I'll post a rendering.

which, you are correct, is nice, but I don't think its the right direction. It will basically be a completely different place than what existed a few years ago. I think they'll lose a lot of their alumni crowd that has such a tie to that place.

But hell, they are better businessmen than I am.

And like you, I greatly preferred The Grill before they changed it at all. And, I'm not in the food service industry either, so what the hell do I know about it?

As good family friends of Joe and Mary Tkoch, I'll let you know that they are not changing anything about City Bagel and have just leased the Grill. They have not decided on a name yet, but will keep things pretty much the same and have much better food. I worked at the Bagel for two years while I was at State and the food is outstanding there. The rent also isn't too high, the Grill just likes the location at the new Tabor building better (less college kids, etc). I think its gonna work out real well for them.

The new Grill location will be great and the Tkochs know how to put together a good restaurant. To me, Vegas just got 2 new places to eat.

seriously, any chance they can improve the tv situation? If so, it would really make that place awesome.

was disappointed with the "grown-up" format. The food is good but it feels like a chain restaurant. I ate there 4-5 times in the first few months it was open but I can't remember the last time. I don't know anything about their business or the restaurant business in general so it may be a great move out of the Cotton District but I don't see me going there, ever. I agree that it hasn't been what it once was for a long time but I loved the District location even if I had to loop the block 3 or 4 times to find a place to illegally park. Whatever opens in that space, if they have cold beer and some TVs I will be there.
