The movie had it's faults, but I actually enjoyed it.

In the end, De Niro' s character was just another sociopath that are useful idiots/hitmen to mob style organizations - the type you had to be to execute POWs in the woods during the war...or shoot one of your own friends without remorse.

I thought the closing scene was superb - they did a good job representing the eventuality of that lifestyle. You die alone with no friends or family around you and it's exactly what you deserve.

"who would make a call like that" - just enough conscience to approach an understanding of the enormity of his sins, but too much of a sociopath to actually confess and come to terms.

"is it really Christmas?" - all alone. No family, no friends, no black Lincoln and even his Priest doesn't want to spend another minute with him.

"leave the door open just a little bit" - time always catches up with you. Sooner or later you will answer for your life.

I thought it was excellent.

The age issue never really took me out of the movie.

It is long so I just approached it as a mini-series and watched it in 1 hour increments.

I had to go back to watch the first hour after finishing it. He popped Hoffa in the first killing of the movie.

Watch the 20 minute interview with the Big 4. Pretty cool how they did the age thing all with CGI

I thought that Joe Pesci did a great job with his role in the movie. He came out of retirement for the role.

Joe Pesci was outstanding. Very understated for a change.

Agree. He was incredible. And I typically hate him as an actor.

The reverse aging stuff was just weird and unnecessary. Especially given the fact they included so many scenes showing him moving around.

Watched it on the flight to Vegas. Thought it was damn good. The age thing didn't bother me at all. Would have rather seen Deniro doing that then someone like Justin Timberlake. Thought Pesci and Pacino were excellent. Was it Goodfellas? No. But it's not worthless.

It’s not meant to be a straight gangster movie. It’s about Jimmy Hoffa and also the characters in his orbit that eventually lead to his demise.

I thought it was outstanding and especially for someone who had always been intrigued by Hoffa.

I rewatched it and like it more now. I thought Hoffa's character was excellent - dude associated with morally bankrupt gangsters his whole adult life yet thought he was untouchable.

Pesci was fantastic. A totally different type of character than what we are used to seeing from him in gangster movies and he did it perfectly.

It's not Goodfellas, but I'd rank it above Casino and The Departed. Certainly worth a watch and a worthy effort by Scorcese.

Hoffa could’ve lived longer if he didn’t call everyone a c-sucka so much.

I think every actor involved with the sopranos and gangster movies in general was in that movie. Artie Bucco’s wife was looking pretty good.

It is actually a requiem to the genre. I am very impressed with the effort. It moves very slow and has all the hallmarks of a cliche gangster movie but is subtle and pretty freaking awesome. Watch it.

If you want to be bored then by all means watch it.

Sorry Scorsese, I'll just stick with my comic book movies. That's better "cinema" to me.

They’re basically hours long ads to sell you toys with the same basic story line over and over again. Entertaining for sure but not cinema.

-it's fine. It is what it purports to be. Cliche but entertaining enough.

For what was essentially a free movie I could watch casually on my couch spread out over several days it was great. The “de-aging” process was terrible but not enough to ruin the movie.

Cliche is probably correct, but what held my interest was it was about Jimmy Hoffa and how he ran the Teamsters.

I thought it was a great movie.
