You realize Kansas lost 50% of our scoring from last year and 100% of our post defense right? This was our first game of the year trying to figure out a style of play and a rotation. We have plenty of talent and yes, McCormack is included in that assessment.

Hahhaha there you are!

You realize that's EXACTLY what I'm saying right? It's a brand new Kansas team, no top level talent.. and they put 90 on Gonzaga. That's more of a statement on Gonzaga than anything else. The Zags should have BLOWN Kansas out, for how good they supposedly are.

No, you don't have plenty of talent, though. Gonzaga is just the typical mode of "we play 3 teams in the top100 all year". Kansas, a brand new team, was one of them.

I wasn't impressed with either team, honestly.

Easy schedule? Huh?
Gonzaga played #9 Kansas and will play #2 Baylor and #5 Iowa.
WTH

Anddd.. that looks to be all they will play. St Mary's got worked by Memphis, who just lost tonight.

I won't discredit Few/Zags.. they try to schedule games. But the fact is they play in a doo doo brown conference. Again, there's like 3 or 4 legit games they play, and that's about it.

How do you, as a Kansas fan, not understand the two different types of game slates? I mean, I know your fanbase likes to cherry pick and use selective memory and all.. so I shouldn't be too surprised.

The Zags are a really good team regardless of schedule. They remind me a bit of that 2015 Wisconsin team with good shooters, can spread the floor and the tall lanky white kids down low.

Gonzaga’s the same as Villanova. They’re a really good team but because they play a terrible schedule, they get the benefit of a top seed and an easier path to deep tourney runs than what they really deserve.
Suggs is the best recruit they have ever had and brings another level of athletic ability to the team to go with their experience, they will be tough to beat, but like I said in another thread, I don’t think Kansas has a first rounder on that roster and are certainly not a top 10 team, so we’ll see what they’ve got when they play Baylor.

Gonzaga always has significant returning players and they play their best opponents early when those opponents are still breaking in young talent and haven't begun to gel. Then, later in the season, when those same teams are beginning to realize their potential, Gonzaga is feasting on cupcakes. It happens every season. They finish with 25+ wins, get a 1 seed, and don't have to play anyone decent until Sweet 16. It's clockwork.

If we beat Kentucky on Tuesday, will you be impressed and admit Kansas has talent?

Kansas will get theirs once the NCAA gets through with them. Be ready to sit home the next two years while we play in the NCAA tournament.

You answered none of my questions or concerns, nor addressed my thoughts on Gonzaga.

Assuming the fouls are in a +- 3 of each other? Kansas would need to win by 8 or more for me to be impressed.

Kentucky has the top end talent. They do not have the experience. Kansas has neither. We'll be fine.

I'm not playing the foul disparity game. Kansas has talent.

Garrett was DPOY last year and I believe he's on the Wooden Watch list this year.
Bryce Thompson is a top 20 composite kid in the 2020 class.
Jalen Wilson was rated 46 in composite in the class of 2019.
McCormack was a McDonald's AA.
Ochai is a three year starter.
Braun is a solid player and good three point shooter.
Grant-Foster was a top 2 Juco last year and just has to figure things out.
Enaruna is a future pro.
Lightfoot is solid role player.

Again, this was the first game trying to find a post Dok/Dotson identity against a veteran and experienced team. I'm not concerned at all. Well, I'm concerned that we don't have much true post depth, but we'll figure out the small ball rotation.

I hope you all found it, because Olivier will be in front of them real soon.

Nope, getting high seating's helps. But, they are noted for choking when it gets tight. A weaker schedule as noted earlier will do that to you.

Noted for choking on this board but not anywhere else

Nothing Kansas could do on the basketball court would impress me. You are playing under the shadow of massive cheating allegations, after just recently getting rid of the latest in a long line of players charged with abusive and criminal behavior. No one should be “impressed” by anything your shoddy, immoral program does.

I am not trolling but just curious - who is the best Kansas player to play for Self?

You guys have had a great collection of players, but I'm not sure if Self has ever produced a superstar. Thoughts?
