Snyder is going to talk to him about the opportunity to get better, and to be a leader, and to play in front of passionate fans that appreciate players.

Mullen is going to talk about heismans and SEC title games and ESPN and playing Florida and LSU and Bama. Things that will never come out of Snyder's mouth.

If Cam is a guy that buys into a "wow" pitch then we do not have a shot at him. If he truly wants to be taught to get better and to make it to the league...then we've got a great chance.

???? I guess this guy never heard of Alex Smith. A 2 star recruit that Mullen turned into the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft.

Also Newton is different than all the other guys. Very very atheletic. You can never have enough QB's. Say Jones goes down with an injury and the Allen isn't as good as expected, a true freshman is no help at QB. Or like what happened to UCLA that year when they had like 4 QB's go down. Only 3 scholarship QB's available is thin esp when one is redshirted and one gets hurt like this year. He will go to Miss State though so no reason to debate it really. He could start right away and its his old OC and they are kinda up and coming.

If we could get Newton that would be fantastic. After reading OU's and KSU's boards I feel our biggest competition from fans perspectives is KSU. Wouldn't it be great if Mullen and co. showed up at his championship game and pretty much gives the KSU fans there a big 17 you

He is very high on us, I do know this as well. The problem is that the Miss St coach is his ex Off Coordinater, and it is close to home for him. I do believe he will come here though, just a feeling that I get. If he wants to win and compete for championships, this is the place for him. No disrespect to Miss St, but they will never compete against the UF's, Tenn's, LSU's, of the world. When he comes for his visit, he will be astounded at what LHCBS has in store for him and the opportunity that he will have to come in and kick some serious tail..... I believe he will be wearing the KSU purple in the spring and we will be Big XII Champs next season!!!!!! Off to drink more purple kool-aid!!!!

..Newton would have a real chance to start for the Sooners if 3 other guys don't pan out? Well.... that's got to be exciting for Cam.

taken from sectalk.com.................................. Cam was holding out in the hopes that UT would offer him, Benny. MSU has always been his second choice. Now the news is out that UT is going to go with Matt Simms instead so that pretty much seals the deal.

That basically translates to: Although Florida was happy as **** to get him the first time, we don't really want him this time. We were really after Joe Nobody anyway.

Even though Newton may think he's a pro-style guy, Simms fits the UT offense better than Newton. Plus, I believe Newton was suspended for the first half of the game the UT coaches attended to evaluate him. That may have played into it as well. No explanation necessary on why Newton fits ours. Both schools are better off should this be the case - I don't care if we are the fallback plan or not - as long as he's here.

And speaking of Simms, does anyone know how likely or unlikely it is that he commits to UT?

To me, that's worth nothing.

I don't believe anything Rosebowl says.

They're kind of like our big 12 football brothers:

-little to no historical success prior to 1990
-overall losing record
-early 90s hiring of a coach who showed them how to win, including division/conference championships and bowl wins
-decline of the same coach which turned the heads of many fans who called for him to step down
-stepping down of this coach and hiring of their first AA coach who had no head coaching experience
-disasterous seasons under new regime

The only difference is they essentially went back to their Jackie and went in a different direction a lot sooner than we did. I remember in 99 when we started 8-0 they were up there undefeated as well looking for respect. As another similarity to Jackie, Bill Snyder is a big fan of recruiting JUCOs as well.

MSU fans think he's ours
KSU fans think he's theirs
UT fans think he's theirs (if they want him)
Oklahoma fans think he's theirs (if they want him)
And I'm sure there are some optimistic Arizona fans as well..

preferably in November when it's cold here and not there.

I just think our program is very similar to k-state's, so it'd make a pretty decent OOC matchup.
