It's hard not to know what's going on there with all of the news coverage on it. Lots of speculation about what the reasons were behind the kidnapping from the "experts". So much doesn't make sense, as to the why.
Your ideas on what's going on?

Something is very very off here. I would still be looking at a family member if I was LEO. Perhaps somewhere in the extended family

I'm leaning that way myself. Maybe someone asked to borrow some money and was told no. Just no rhyme or reason..

All we can do is guess, but I feel that if it’s a family member it greatly increases the likelihood Mrs. Gutherie is eventually retuned in good health.

The FBI released photos of the suspect today. Approached the door that morning in a ski mask and gloves and adjusted the camera.

That's the first thing my wife said. Said the mustache was drawn on.

I could buy the fake mustache theory (I don't) more than I could the theory that they're wearing extra clothes to look more like a guy. That's a dude's body.

In reality, I don't think we're dealing with a criminal who was sophisticated enough to put that much planning into it. They wouldn't have used the front door, or dealt with the camera upon arrival as if that was a problem they hadn't anticipated.

I am surprised there isn't more video evidence of a car in the area. The backpack would suggest he arrived on foot, but how do you take the victim with you without a vehicle close by? And how are there not any videos of said vehicle?

I personally don't think it's a woman myself. And as you said, there are a lot of unanswered questions in that video.

I've read that given the proximity to the desert, there is a lot of astronomical work done nearby. As such, the neighborhood does not leave many lights on as a courtesy to them. There could be cameras but if there is no light, doubtful those security cameras would be able to pick up anything on the street with any degree of clarity.

Have a hard time thinking it's someone related. Wouldn't they have known there was a camera?

That criminal looks like an amateur (might even be too nice to say amateur). There is no way they are masterminding some kidnapping with Bitcoin, etc. This woman was killed for some reason due to burglary or celebrity stalking about her daughter...something. The woman is dead. The folks asking for ransom have nothing to do with it.

Her son-in-law and his band mate Domin Evans are getting a lot of buzz from Internet sleuths.

There's a reason they took the car from her daughter's home for analysis. The question has also been asked about the relationship between the daughter and the son in law but to my knowledge, that question has not been answered publicly. Just my two cents and I'm not specifically supporting that theory nor am I rejecting it.

The son-in-law was the last person documented to have seen her. He took Nancy home after the three of them had dinner.

FBI reported the glove they found seemed to be a match to the DNA found in the house. If that's so, I would think they should have a suspect soon, even if they have to track him through his relatives dna.

Obviously, all leads have gone cold. News on this matter has gone from 24 hours a day to nothing. Of course, attacking Iran may have something to do with that.
I also saw that Savannah has gone home and is going back to work. That makes me think they know something but are not talking one bit about it.
Strange goings on..

No way she is alive. 84 year old woman, no change of clothes, no medication, pace maker disconnected. Abductor is long gone. Someone will discover her bones 20 years from now. So sad.

Agreed

I was convinced early on that a family member was involved. Honestly, given where she lives I think the most likely aspect now was some sort of cartel/Mexican gang. If they got a "ransom" great....if they didn't, she was dead anyway
