The lack of inconsistency in our program is unbelievable.

We play to the level of our competition. We either lie to recruits about playing time or do not develop them once they are on campus and they leave, Hurting continuity.
Our fans are sick and tired of the same routine. We sign top 25 classes and half of the classes do not stay 4 years. We did great with scheduling and taking care of business in the pre-conference schedule, but look like we will be 8-8 in the SEC with "Sweet 16 talent". We shifted away from great rebounding and defensive teams with heart and started recruiting skinny wing players that could shoot the 3 and not dribble with their left hand. We still cannot attack a zone defense after 13 years with the same head coach. Our coaching staff will remain on that bench until Stansbury is fired or quits. No one wants them. Kirby left for Georgetown because of the Stansbury flirting with Clemson deal and Kirby finding out that he would not be considered for the job if Stansbury did leave. We let the inmates run the asylum. We take ill-advised shots and let the players stay on the floor. Auburn's coach pulled a player if they let one of our guys get open for a 3. If Stansbury did that, we would have guys quitting at halftime and leaving the Hump for another school. We went through the Ravern years without lifting weights. Varnado benched like 135 (1 time) at an NBA combine. Ravern Johnson couldn't learn to dribble with his left hand after 4 years and he didn't gain any weight. Transfers are the lifeblood of our program. Shane Power, Lawrence Roberts, Arnett Moultrie, etc. We let other coaches develop the talent and maturity and we reap the benefits. I don't know if the NCAA was looking at us or not a few years ago, but Stansbury stopped recruiting elite talent. Phil Turner, Travis Gabbidon, Jaquise Holcombe, Twanny Beckham, not being able to find a position for Romero Osby, and John Reik were all risks and head scratchers, except for Osby. I'm afraid that we are about to lose 4 games in a row and miss out on a high seed and the NCAA's all together.

winningest coaches in SEC history and he brought an overall SEC title to MSU in 2004. We have also been one the winningest programs in the SEC during his tenure. I would loveto seeour football and baseball programs become as "inconsistent" as Bury's teams. Mullen follows a 9-4 season with a 6-6 regular season record and he is regarded as a hero around here. Stan's has a team that is 19-6 and ranked yet some on here want him gone. Why don't you hold all of our coaches to the same standards and see how long they last?</p>

Plain and simple. We have sucked at that. We have done very well within the SEC during his tenure. We have been a top 4 or 5 SEC program for the last decade and have one SEC title to show for it and we stunk it up in the NCAA's that year. We find ourselves having to be an 8 or 9 seed paired with a 1 seed to make a run. I like Stansbury, but his end is coming. He better find a way to keep this ship above water because this loss is going to sting for a while. This is our late-season Rider loss.

level as all the other SEC teams and he has been more successful than all but two or three. That is success. How can it not be?

put the next MSU coach's chance at surpassing Stans' typical record in his first 5 years (if he makes it that long) at about 5%.

last year in football that was "good"? La Tech in OT? I understand that we play in a great football conference and I am 100% behind Mullen, but I do believe that Stans has earned the right to get respect and support from our fans. He does some dumb **** on occassion, butoverall he has improved our program and he is loyal to MSU. How many NCAAtournaments did MSU participate in before Stans arrived at MSU? Just look at the numbers.

College basketball coaches are measured on NCAA tournament success, not conference. Do, I think the next coach will have a hard time being as consistent as Stansbury, possibly so. I would rather have a good coach where he could take this team and I don't have the feeling, "Man, I wonder which team for us will show up today versus North Dakota Tech." I would take a down year or two if it meant that we unloaded NBA talent after an elite 8 run. I would rather Mullen take us to the Sugar Bowl for 1 year and follow that with 5-7 and 5-7 than us go 6-6 three years in a row to the Liberty Bowl. Stansbury raised the expectation level of the program, but he has failed to reach that raised ceiling.

then Stans wouldn't have anything to hang his hat on. Playing in a division against Auburn, LSU, TSUN, and Arkansas for as many years as he has will inflate many coaches records. We had a chance to really elevate our program into something special within the past couple of years because our fans cared and were WANTED to support the team. After repeated failure from Stans and the crew the fan base became apathetic and basically said "What's the point anymore?" All you have to do is look at the Hump's atmosphere and you can see that attitude. People want to cheer for a product they respect and right now I don't respect that product on the floor and haven't for sometime. No identity on offense (ever), no intensity on D, walking up and down the court, and then add the constant soap opera drama. **** man, at some point you have to stop looking at the record and ask yourself do you enjoy watching them play because I sure as hell don't.

Our basketball program is one of the most consistent things at MSU in the past decade. <div>
</div><div>Individual teams may have been inconsistent, overall you know EXACTLY what to expect out of MSU basketball coached by Rick Stansbury.</div>

I would be very surprised if I read less effectively than you. I do not only judge a college basketball coach on NCAA success. That would mean that I disregarded 90%+ of a basketball season, in which case, what is the point of being a fan. Under Stans, we are consistently competitive, almost always tourney bound, and nearly always very competitive in the tourney.

Only one other coach in MSU history can claim that (Babe McCarthy) and even his tenure ended much worse than the team Stans has this year.
