I hate it because Lamont is a likeable guy, but his teams play the game wrong. I wonder if JD will give him another year just because of the buyout?

Argued with a fella on here last year that he should be or would be fired at the end of last season.... the other poster was right. We kept him for this season too.

Thank God we stretched an obvious fail into 2 seasons vs just 1. Seems like we like to stretch out the suffering over multiple seasons when some of us can see the futility in that rather quickly. Shoulda / coulda / woulda. I told you so.....whoever you were. I believe I said if he wasn't fired last season that he would be fired after this season .....so, there really wasn't any point in dragging it out. But, I digress.....here we are.

Apparently he can’t recruit, and can’t coach game situations, but he’s a nice guy, we’ll keep him a few years, typical strategy!

South Carolina is a women's sports school. No one cares about men's baseball, basketball or football.

The fan base's passion is for women's basketball, softball and equestrian.

That couldn't be any more untrue! While people love women's basketball, it is because they are winners! If and when men's football, basketball, and baseball start winning, you will see that same passion women's basketball gets!

Lighten up Francis, it was a joke.

Women's sports probably have about 10% of the fan following men's sports do, even when the men's sports stink. If football had the same passion women's basketball gets, the stadium would be 90% empty on game days.

This is the definition of "fair-weathered fans" - the ones who show up when they're winning. The real fans are the ones who are there through the lean times, lending their support when it's needed. I'll stand by previous remarks about WBB and how when they return to their previous level of performance they'll still have all their loyal fans from back then - both of them.

All one has to do is look around Columbia - when the Urnj Scurge wasn't winning you had a hard time finding any orange around. As soon as they started winning, the place looks like Home Depot convention.

The bandwagon alternates between empty and full.

I understand that some folks on here don't appreciate women's sports or women's basketball, but why do they have to catch a stray on almost every topic. It's not their fault that the Football team struggled. It's not their fault that the Men's basketball team looks like they will go through another lost season. The problems with our Men's teams are not finances or prioritizing. We have the money. It's proven how we are willing to pay coaches to go away. We prioritize them above everything else. They just have not performed.

Basketball is not like football. Big name coaches have gone to other schools and failed or not met expectations more often than not.. the question is who would actually get this program to a reasonably competitive level in the best conference? Paris made the NCAA tourney with a team he built... that almost never happens here. I'm not saying he should stay, but it's a long season and the landscape of transfers and recruiting is wildly different now than it was 10 years ago. Basketball is a **** show in general.

Sad thing is his shooting percentage is probably better than everyone else's.

When you allow your 7'1 250-pound plus center to continue to shoot 3's and act like a guard, that tells me all I need to know!

One could argue that the blind allegiance to SC football is part of the problem. They know you will show up, even to watch bad football....I would even say they depend on it!

Paris got lucky with one portal class, and then commenced to get embarrassed in the tournament.

He also had the worst SEC record in our history last season. He hasn’t proven he can recruit at a level or develop talent at the level needed to be successful here. He doesn’t get a pass because he had 1 good season when he’s on the verge of having 3 putrid seasons.

I don't disagree and I'm not speaking specifically about USC FB, but the idea of being a fan and supporting a team, regardless of their success. Sadly, money has become the primary motivator for most sports and why I don't really have a taste for pro sports and am quickly losing interest in the amateur ones that are morphing into pro. Schools don't reward long-time "loyal" fans (pricing out long-time supporters to build luxury suites, etc.), just the people willing to part with large sums of money; they ask for loyalty but don't reciprocate. And there are "fans" who show up only when the team is winning, thereby saying "we don't really care about the team, just being associated with a winner." So, there are groups on both sides who don't exhibit loyalty, just their own selfish interests - and they use each other to achieve those ends.

The BB transfer portal didn't have a whole lot of talent and we are seeing it now
I don't follow BB recruiting and portal but I do recall a number of posters here saying how great our BB portal gets were and how they would bring immediate improvement.

Maybe internet message boards aren't the great sources of knowledge some think they are?

One that gets it; refreshing.

It’s like a striped drive and flushed approach on 18 after a day of bogeys; brings you back for more after contemplating giving it up.
