If I remember correctly, I don't think he had time to shoot, as the attacker was already upon him when Ellie shouted. Pretty sure she had a gun as well. His back was turned, and the horse blocked her view of the attacker.
Before the actual attack I suppose Joel was trying to escape without alerting, risking others showing up.... perhaps with guns. Or maybe he is trying to avoiding having to kill any more than he needs to. As he seems to be struggling with these demons.
Yes, they surprised him while he was putting the gun away. No way Joel puts the gun away if a fight is at hand. Tough ending. I hope he somehow makes it as that character is riveting. I said "NO!" out loud and my son laughed at me at the end of that episode.

I didn't either. It's quite good, but hokey as it has to be.
2 episodes in. Everyone says skip 3 or whatever. I don't take TV that serious and I'm not really watching anything else. I like it. Finishing 1923. Need something to watch in between as well. Got some time on hands right now.

Episode 3 just misses a big story moment in the game to put in a woke gay love story. If they had made episode 3 half that, and half the scenes between the characters in the game, it would be great. But you can largely skip it and say, ellie and Joel get a truck left behind by Bill.

Episode 3 was fine. It was real gay but at least it had good acting, was just a way to explain how they got weapons.

I thought it was well written, well acted and hilarious at times. I figured when Offerman captured him, he was going to either pull a Hannibal Lecter on him, or the other dude would wind up killing him. I didn't see their relationship going the way it did, and certainly thought Offerman was a gonner after getting shot. The other guy dying from ALS (I presume) was sad for me because one of my best friends died with it, but them going out together while setting up Joel and Ellie was a nice touch to end it.

Got around to ep 6 tonight. As I've gotten a bit older, I've become more emotional with tv and movies. Joel pushing Ellie away was brutal even though you knew that'd quickly get resolved. I'm all in on this show and hope we just get one more season. I'm perfectly content rewatching a series that's not five plus seasons. I know fans will always want more, but I wish Dexter was three seasons, Sons of Anarchy, maybe four.

Dexter went completely off the rails. Another show that should have ended early was True Blood. It was hilarious the first couple or three seasons before tailing off badly.

It is sssoooo good. The 2nd game was really divisive, but the story for this season is amazing. Honestly, if season 2 finishes this storyline, I hope that's all. You're correct on how series should stop earlier.

Yea. I mean I get it. It was real gay and whatever. My hot take is this guy had a world class set up, fortress and armory, yet only had an S-10. Somehow I would have thought he would have managed some A-team style zombie mowing down mixture of a vehicle he would have rigged together?

Felt like finding the entrance to norad and riding out in a soviet pick up to save the world.

Loved Deadwood, but the movie that finished it was a colossal waste of time. Another show I wished had ran at least one more season was Carnivale.
Deadwood movie = big disappointment.
Haven't watched Carnivale.
Taboo was another great show with only one season. Not sure if a second season will be made.

Wasn't Trinity in Season 4? Three seasons would have left off the very best one, if I am right. At least IMHO.

Carnivale.....So I've watched 5 episodes and I'm hanging in there. struggling to figure out what's really going on.
Maybe I've missed important details. Regardless it's still entertaining.

Rome was great…Oz was really good too. The Rest of Us Won’t end up in my top 5, I think

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the most angry people about the show are still watching the show? It's only been on for a few episodes, so the sunk time cost is really minimal.

If they were six seasons deep, and they didn't like the direction of the show, I can understand continuing to watch just because, but early in the first season baffles me. Just give it up, easy peasy.

It's overall a good show, just could do with less fluff that doesn't advance the story, but rather an agenda.

Just have to cram it down our throats, don't they?

Again, who cares? Yay, teenage, 17y.o. grooming lesbian hits on her 13 y.o. friend.

We get it from the first two minutes, don't need 45 more minutes of it.
At least this was straight from the game. I don't have an issue if it's a part of the game(this is more heavy in game 2 and the dlc). Episode 3 was very very heavy handed for no reason. It didn't further the plot.

Can’t get on board with the overt wokeness in a post apocalyptic world. Need to be procreating not have male love stories. Selfish scum give up that seed to a woman. Don’t pretend your boyfriend is some birthing person

Two of seven complete episodes to highlight middle age and teenage homosexual relationships...... in a zombie television show. Both relationships could have been effectively explained, within fifteen minutes in each episode.
Ellie and Riley's kiss lasted longer than the zombie's appearance in last nights episode.

I never played the game, and don't know.much about it, to avoid spoilers.

Just seems a rather ham-handed approach for a particular agenda.

It's a TV series. Who gives a F about a separate game? Get over it. Why even mention it? Good grief.

Two non-adult kids kissing is hardly a homo "relationship". Get a grip.

Because the series is actually based on it? I've said this in this thread before. If they made a movie or series after a book that was iconic, wouldn't you have an issue with removing parts of a story just to focus on some gay romance that was barely in the source material? Episode 3 was basically pointless to the plot of the story and just added in.

You seem to care a lot about this I'm starting to think you're deeply in the closet

I care about source material. This episode was basically right out of the DLC. Not really an issue with it. Episode 3? Yep.

Well I remember watching The Wonder Years as a kid in the late 80s and watching two 5th or 6th graders kiss on screen. And from that moment young big blue here fell in love with Winnie.

I think feeling like you need to show a 14yo girl lip locking another minor girl then suggestively asking "what do we do now" in a post-apocalyptic universe says a lot more about "woke" culture than me.

How about not sexualizing children, for starters?

I saw an interview afterwards with the freak behind the show and he lisped with delight at that kissing scene. Hollywood is sick and out of touch. They need to be cleaned out and fired in mass as they've reached the point of infestation.

How about movies, TV, shows, sports, entertainment options in general without the politics, messages, tributes, bringing attention to, honoring, in memoriams...

I don't need my attention to be brought to anything else. I'm all out of it. Sick of being pandered to and preached at. Entertain me not indoctrinate me. That's what TF it is supposed to be.
