was it me or is that place a hell of a lot louder than in previous years. The decibels rivaled 2010 Arkansas for the first few minutes.

It was very loud
My only complaint is that I couldn't hear anything that came from the video board (intro, John Bond/LSU feature). And I sit in section 22 pretty close to the speakers. Needs to be adjusted.

Ah that's right. I remember Stricklin saying that in a chat or something. Not that big of a deal. I'll take a loud stadium over being able to hear people talking on the video board every day of the week.
I was in Sec 20 on the East side and it was very loud...

Looking forward to that. I've sat in several different sections recently and have no idea what the video sound is trying to tell me. Music and PA guy seem to be on a different system because that's all pretty clear; but throw a talking player on the video and all I hear is 'wahh wahh wop wop true maroon wahh wops '.
I sit fairly high in the lower deck on the East side, and maybe it was just me, but it didn't seem as loud to me as it did in
the past. However, I'm thinking part of that was because the students are farther away than before. Having the music toned down certainly had its affect as well.

In section 02, didn't seem that much louder at the game, but watched the DVR and it sounded louder on TV. There is a noticeable echo, reflecting off the new video board I guess.
I really hope there is something they can do this year. I'm lower level East Side and couldn't understand anything from where we were. Volume was low and what we could hear was muffled.

Seemed louder to me most of the time too. As I posted somewhere else, I checked the sound level a couple of times with the dB meter on my phone and never saw it go above 105 dB. Seems like I remember the record being at a Seahawks game at 117. I don't know how accurate the meter I have is ... it's just a free ap.
My new seats are on the goal line, south end, in club level east side. I could hardly hear the PA at all, and really couldn't understand what was being said at all. Last year I was on the 40 and it'd blow me out of my seat. Hard to tell if they turned it down or if it's the positioning of my seats. I assume the speakers are aimed straight upfield.

The dB meter app sounds like a cool idea. But I would think it could be affected by how loud you, or the people right next to you are yelling. For instance, if you held it by your chest and were the only person yelling it may register higher than if you were the only person not yelling. I know when Guinness comes to nfl games they place a few meters at various places on the sidelines and use an average.
It was fun to be at the dome when the 49ers came last year and we tried to break the record, they put the live meter from Guinness on the video boards.

It would be incredible to hear how loud it could get if most people actually used their voices, too. I swear - I think I was the only one in the east upper deck trying to make any vocal noise, even early on. That always seems to be the case. I've been to games at Oregon and Oregon State and most people in the crowd are yelling when their team is on D. I think that's why Autzen gets the reputation, and rightfully so, for being so loud.
