The love affair some have with Augustus boggles my mind

He's a good young player. My thing is people act like he's MJ single handedly leading us to championships.

For some reason, some people think that Stansbury should just let people play based solely on talent, whether they do what Stans asks them to do or not.

I'm sure asking someone to you know, play defense, play hard all the time, rebound, and not act like an ******* during games are all a little much to ask for.

It's not that Augustus is a great player, it's just that we are a better team with him on the floor. He gives us another tall, athletic body to defend and rebound down low. We actually would have been a really good rebounding team with Varnado, Augustus, Turner, Stewart, and Bost, but for some reason that I can't figure out Stans refused to play Turner anywhere but the 4. Turner can do everything Ravern can do at the 3 plus he is a much better defender and rebounder. Ravern killed us today with his missed shots and lack of defense. He also gets to very few loose balls, unlike Turner.

And I've fallen guilty a few times... we desperately needed a big man to step up, and he was the mesiah. But he's not what we hoped he'd be... at least not yet. And that's a simple as it is.

that we were 6-2 in conference with him as a paper weight on the bench. Having said that, I really hope he comes back.

we lost three in a row down the stretch to Bama, Tennessee, and Auburn when he played a grand total of 7 minutes...and also remember, we beat Tennessee when he got significant minutes

Ask yourself was that because of Augustus or were there other factors for our poor play in december such as a true freshman PG who had to adjust to D1 ball. Or a coach who was struggling to find the right mix of players and the right substitution patterns. Stansbury was playing 11/12 guys every game and we weren't pushing the tempo at all. We were still trying to play the same ole half court game like we had Rhodes or Roberts down low. There was no rhyme or reason to our groupings. You could look up and see Benock, Beckam, Bailey and Holcombe on the court. None of that had anything to do with Augustus. </p>

Also, read the post that I replied to (it related to the team in December and January) and you'll see the reason that I picked the halfway point.

he was trying to find the right mix of players, dee adjusting, and at the same time trying to win games...and that line-up gave us the best chance to win games at that time

Its also worth noting how awful the teams were that we beat. Look at their combined records...they suck.
