Then take a look at the 2016, 2017 recruiting, which was two of the weakest years under DH, those classes are our current upperclassmen now. We have to give him time to institute & build his vision, and that requires 3-4 years to accomplish. 5 years if you seek a significant improvement. They need time to implement & build, and fans are not known to be patient. Approx 70 of the approx 112 players on the team are underclassmen, and a fairly large % of those are playing a healthy % of snaps. This tells me they are more talented & Brown is also getting them prepared to be a better player when they are upperclassmen. If DH left a treasure trove of extremely talented upperclassmen I would have a different level of expectation, but that is not the case. Brown is building for the future, which is evident in him giving so many underclassmen healthy time on the field. [QUOTE="Volatility_rivals135605, post: 131432725, member: 1476288"] I do agree offensive creativity could improve. Maybe he's limited at the moment, from player/skillset functionality. Im surprised Im not seeing more Zone Stretch runs & Roll out passes, as this will help an inexperienced OL. Maybe we'll see more as the year goes on. As long as we see subtle improvements yr to yr, Im not going to seriously criticize until the 2020 class are Juniors(Until the majority of players are NB recruits). Once the OL is both more talented & experienced, skillset positions are more experienced, & we have a qb whos also a mobility threat. When those occur, Ill seriously be looking at offensive creativity & predictability. Some of Sat issues, was execution. Players simply failed to win individual battles or when they did, another failed to deliver. It was a very sloppy game, most of which can be corrected in-season, which is the good news. No matter what the result is at the end of this season, you have to remember how young this team is and how the majority of our current 1st & 2nd team will be here for a few more years.. When you take a close look at the roster, its mostly Freshmen, Redshirt Freshmen, & Sophomores / Redshirt Sophomores. From my research, it usually takes a coach 5 years before they win a major bowl game, when building a program. Dabo at Clemson, Rich at WVU, both took 5 years.. Brown's offenses at Troy wasnt geared for 50 points a game, it was more balanced, to maintain a positive ToP to helphis Defense. I do think you have to walk that fine-line between offense and defense, one can help the other, but the issue boils down to Brown's offense is not yet at a point when it can control the ToP, through varying strategies.
