Winning 8A with 5 two-players. This was unheard of years ago in the higher classes. I think in this day and age with less participation, numbers down etc. this is the model. Regular season really just get in the playoffs. Going undefeated literally means nothing, who cares. Everyone is 0-0 in playoffs. Assess things in regular season, stay healthy then make push in November. MS had a tough non-conf slate with Montini, Loyola and a good crossover with Barrington. 2nd time around with Barrington and LA when it mattered most, they had their best team out there and won.

From your lips (and the MS Blueprint) to the WV coaches ears (hopefully)

Did Marist do this a couple of years ago and made it to the championship?

Definitely think coaches are going to need the type of roster creativity and adaptability the MS coaches showed. Those roster numbers are not going up, as you mentioned. In fact, I think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg regarding the lower numbers across the board. When the current frosh are seniors, many schools are going to be dealing with a whole new reality, as far as numbers go. The best coaching staffs will rise to the top more than ever. It will be an adapt or perish environment.

I agree this is a good model. The best MS teams have always had two way players. I always judge our team by how many guys we have going both ways. All you need are a few studs and the rest very good high school football players.
A look at the 2008-2009 MS title teams 2 way players

08-WR-DB Joey Orlando
WR-DB Sam Chwarzynski
OL-DL Zach Timm
WR-LB Tyler Benz
RB-LB Matt Perez
09-RB-LB Matt Perez
QB-LB Tyler Benz
WR-DB Ronnie Muck

Totally agree that this is the model going forward for a lot of schools. Makes a lot of sense! If a team has several really good players and they have the stamina to go both ways why not do so. Especially if they are head and shoulders above the players who would be at that position. Hats off to MS's coaches who obviously utilized their best players on the field and not on the sidelines. That doesn't mean you can't spell these exceptional players for a series or two during the game. Montini had quite a few players going both ways and they played really well. (Linemen, defensive backs, WR's and blocking back) Pretty sure they will do the same next season as well.

And MS was beating teams like LWE LA that are very deep. Might not be able to do that for 14 weeks, but 4-5 absolutely. MS got stronger In 2nd half to vs LA.

I can promise you the big fella ain't no slouch in the weight room!

No doubt. He wasn't just occupying space out there. There were times when it looked like the Tasmanian Devil was whirling through the center of that line with bodies flying all over the place.

And that line dominated GW's front seven just a week prior.
