The Manhattan vs. Old Fashioned: What's Better?

I'm convinced the Manhattan would be as popular as the Old Fashioned if it wasn't typically served in a Coupe glass, which I hate drinking out of.

I am with you. Manhattan is my go-to winter drink (and would you look at that - cool air just blew in!) and I hate it when I get it "up" when I order out. I drink them out of a whisky tumbler with ice - so its not like I am a stickler for tradition on the Manhattan front.

I think you're right. Vermouth really does take a little getting used to, especially the Sweet Vermouth in a Manhattan.

I like both. I prefer Manhattans. I like the sweet vermouth taste. Also, I always make them in whiskey glasses.

Wow, I guess gun to head, Old Fashioned, but real close. I have to say, however, a bourbon sidecar is hard to beat in the summer. My recipe is 2 parts Buffalo Trace, 1 part Cointreau, 1/2 part fresh lemon juice. Orange slice or peel garnish. Haven't figured out my winter go to yet. Likely Old Fashioned

I recently started doing a black walnut old fashioned. It’s pretty incredible.
