Was hoping Fowler could force the playoff. Really played a solid round. Hope he gets one this year. It's time.

Wasn't Patrick Reed kicked out of school at Georgia and had to go to Augusta State? I know he's not exactly well-liked amongst the other players on the PGA Tour.
I read where Reed is second only to Bubba as the least liked player on tour, but damn he sure can putt.

Night and day difference in men's US golf and US tennis. US tennis doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning a major, let alone holding all 4 at the same time.
Seems like the spoiled brats in our country follow dad to the golf course instead of the tennis courts. Makes sense.

I'd say most men of accomplishment would choose to not get into tennis shape, and the 5 hours on the course spending time with the kids is still 5 hours away from the wife.

Michael Collins was on one of the ESPN radio shows this morning and was adamant that Reed is well-liked on Tour, despite what we hear. He was universally hated in college but I don't think that's the case anymore.

Just read an article (The Guardian) that had 2 interesting things.

First this:

“The following year, ESPN asked 103 tour golfers which of their fellow pros they’d be least likely help out in a fight. Reed came in second.”

Apparently Reed got 12 votes of 103. Bubba Watson got 23 votes.

Also this:

“Still Reed’s hardly the only brash young golfer on tour, and after four years his fellow pros have got used his style. It’s when you get a little deeper into the weeds that everything becomes more complicated. There have always been rumours about Reed’s time at the University of Georgia, before he transferred to Augusta State. Reed’s always said that he left UGA because of two drinking offences. But in his book Slaying The Tiger, author Shane Ryan wrote that Reed had also been accused of cheating by his team-mates at UGA.

Ryan alleged that Reed’s team-mates had caught him trying to play a ball that wasn’t his during a qualifying tournament, after he’d hit his own into the rough. Ryan also alleged that Reed’s team-mates suspected him of stealing from the locker room. Reed denied both accusations, and produced a sworn statement from his old UGA head coach Chris Haack, who said he was “not aware of any allegation of cheating or theft” against Reed while he was at UGA. But then Haack’s assistant, Jason Payne, had another version. “The story that has been reported by Shane Ryan is an accurate account of his college career at UGA‚” said Payne, “including the suspicions held by his former team-mates.”

Reed certainly not the first jerk to win The Masters and probably won’t be the last. I’ll give him credit, when Spieth and Fowler were gunning for him coming down the stretch Reed didn’t back down.

Like most of us, in time, Reed will likely regret what has happened with his family. That said, who knows how deep the story goes.

On the flip side, if he ever softens up in Golf he likely will lose his edge that makes him such a great player. Some people are just loners in life. Reed is a loner in Golf and that is what makes him tick. He has to play with a chip on his shoulders or he may lose his edge. If he continues to win more to the extent that he is a Top 5 player and is universally accepted as one to where he is the favorite in events I just wonder if he will be able to continue to have the him against the world mentality.

Some people forget Tiger was very much to himself during his heyday. He had to be that way to keep the fire and intensity to want to beat the others. Plus, frankly, do not think he trusted hardly anyone. May be one of the reasons he went so wild for a period of time.

We don’t know the whole story but it could be that his wife is just a manipulative ***** that lets him know that he can have her or his family but he can’t have both.

My guess as well. Theres a certain type of guy who falls for that chit. He looks the part tbh, but who knows.

Was pulling for Rory to get the GS, but honestly, Reed won it on Saturday on 13 and 15. Especially on 15 where he went for the green from 270, and just barely made it . . . then chipped in for eagle. I mean, damn, that takes some major sackage to do that on Saturday, when you are already leading and right there in contention.

Life is short. Half of marriages don't last I would assume the failure rate is higher when one spouse pits the other against his/her family. Don't know the whole story, but the whole thing seems dysfunctional. Hope it all works out eventually. Life is short. Amazing he could focus so well on golf. It's probably his best means of escape.

It does seem that he might have some form of Aspergers. Growing up, he obsessed over golf, and had no other interests (he has savant-level golf skills; not all people with Aspergers have savant-like skills). He is inept socially, has no tact, and if it wasn't for his abilities to play golf, could very well be struggling with life (and would likely be single). Some of the crap he pulled would have gotten him in trouble in the real world. By simply not interacting appropriately could get someone fired.

I think his wife, after his family didn't approve said, "either it's me, or them", and he chose her. As brash and cocky as he is on the golf course, he seems equally insecure in all other aspects of life. Money can hide it to a degree. It seems like he is living a lie, and if he is, there will be a day when it is exposed.

I think I remember reading that Reed's own collegiate teammates wanted him to lose in match play events as long as they got the team win.

Reed's one of those guys you can appreciate, because he acknowledges he's a dick and fully embraces it. Unlike Bubba, who'll cuss his caddie on TV then quote scripture in the post-round interview. Reed's antics vs. Rory in the Ryder Cup sealed it for me. Love the dude. Hope he pulls it out tomorrow.
I will never not remember that bubba bought the dukes of hazard car and wanted to paint an LGBT rainbow over the Dixie sign. He should be neutred on a golf course

Bubba is a complicated individual. In the beginning I couldn't stand him. But now I think he's really trying to change for the better. His willingness to help with the Ryder Cup, after basically being blackballed by the team vote, spoke volumes. He is a family man who loves his wife and kids (adopted), who recognises his faults, and is actively trying to improve in those areas.

Age generally does that to you. Almost 40 and saw his golf career almost go down the toilet until the last month or so. Think he got checked much like Tiger has.
