He never earned more than $100,000 in a season for playing ball. His card is undoubtedly worth more than his career was, including supplemental income.

Both were well before my time - so for anyone who saw them both: who you got, Ted Williams or Mickey Mantle?

Williams best pure hitter in history. Mantle one of, if not the most talented in history. Unfortunately a knee injury early in his career. Before that he was the fastest as well as the best power hitter. What a unique combination. Also, outstanding outfielder. I would take a healthy Mantle

I remember only Williams last season; believe it was 1960. If memory serves correctly, he hit a home run in his last at bat. Great hitter with great eyesight, from my recollection. If Mantle had not gotten hurt, having bum knees, I can only imagine what he would have accomplished. I think Mantle was a better fielder even with the bum knees. Overall, I like Mantle better. But, I'm biased and probably in the minority.

Amazing that Williams had such a great career. Even more amazing knowing that his career was interrupted twice. By WW2 and the Korean War.

Can't begin to tell you how many times I rummage through my grandparents houses hoping to find a '52 Topps Mantle.

I know where mine are— gone with the wind. Have often lamented the money. That spilt milk keeps jumping up into my eyes

I just finished reading a book "My Octobers" by MM. Great read. Some terrific stories about Yogi and others.
