If that initial lead doesn't hold up, we are screwed. In games that we can get a few early runs, it's 3 up 3 down or waste a leadoff single, or leave the bases loaded...the rest of the way.
Pitching ,of late, is doing a good job of "pitching to advantage counts"...another Pat Mc-ism.
