The most frustrating thing about this is WHY

I don't know about you guys, but the most frustrating thing about this whole Will Redmond situation is why does this type of stuff happen to us and not other schools? I am all against cheating, but are our boosters this dumb? Why do they always get caught, when Auburn, OM, and everyone else gets away with it. OM, had a player take a picture of his car and put it on Facebook last year, while we get in trouble for supposedly giving a car to a kid and no one has ever seen it.

Again, why does this happen?

Why does a booster, with all the positive things going on in our program right now, feel the need to risk all of it by doing something like this?

Why and how does this happen?

I truly believe that with the administration we have in place, our history, and by how many recruits we lose to schools that we know have cheated, we are one of the cleanest football programs in the conference. However, one slip up and the media and NCAA are on us like Vultures.

Again, why and how does this happen?

Any theories?

Has anyone reported that one of our boosters did something? News to me. I've only heard that we have been cooperating with the NCAA with regard to the recruitment of a player from the same Memphis school alleged to have falsified academic reports for several athletes, one of which was recruited by Mirando and signed with us. It seems as though Mirando did something wrong, which could be as simple as "he knew about the falsified report, but continued his recruitment anyway", something that could explain why he was asked to resign when it was discovered through this cooperative effort that Mirando knew and didn't say anything. Entirely possible for a young guy trying to make a mark early in his career, wanting desperately to land a top recruit to bolster his credentials.

Am I missing something?

I agree that we're one of, if not the cleanest program in the SEC(relatively speaking). Unfortunately we don't have the prestige or clout like a Bama does, so everything we allegedly do is under a microscope.

As for "boosters," as blacklistedbully said I don't believe there's any report or evidence right now that suggests any such thing occurred. You're getting that from internet message board speculation, which is out of hand right now. As far as we know, nothing of the sort happened, and certainly not with Will Redmond. I can't believe he'd still be in school and/or practicing right now if that were the case.

I agree with this. 24 hours ago everyone including the "insiders" were convinced Mirando's deal was about a girl. Now people who supposedly "know" are saying something different. At this point the context clues still point to this being a non-issue, so personally I'm going to hold off on the latest "well, from what I heard..." message board reports of gloom and doom. It will change by this afternoon anyway.

The most frustrating part is how every media outlet and webpage is reporting this as "Trouble in Starkville......." or something along those lines. Listening to the Bear mouthpiece yesterday afternoon, you would think we were caught in an Albert Means type situation. However, nobody has uncovered any facts of money changing hands, transcript fraud, and etc. Also, State and Coach Mullen are cooperating with the investigation and took action with the Coach. That proves to me, we have nothing to hide and the AD and Coach will not tolerate any unethical recruiting by a coach. HOWEVER, it will not be reported that way today or tomorrow. Where as, as others have pointed out, a few other SEC schools have players through this guy. However, I guarantee OM and Vandy will not be dragged through the mud on this.......at least not with Sports 56 in Memphis. Also, most of the talk on Memphis talk radio, regarding the Auburn guy and his transcript.......is someone within the school or close to him doctored the transcript...Auburn was given the benefit of the doubt. But with us..........we won't get that benefit.

I guess none of you were in Steve Robertsons chat last night? The booster thing is real. MSU has been very cooperative so I don't think theres going to be really severe.

Not theories, facts....our people dont know how to shutup. Instead they talk amongst themselves about what they do know and they ask themselves probing questions, especially on message boards.. We give media reporters directions to snoop based on the said conversations.

I hope you mean the athletic department gives media directions to snoop. This has been kept quiet for 6 months and then message board heros blamed mirando resigning on a girl. What's said on our message boards gives nothing to the media. No one knew about this and if they say they did its complete bs- they would have leaked it before now.

MSU officials are controlling what info is leaked. There's going to be a lot of misinformation out there until the full truth comes out. But the fact remains that something wrong happened and there will be some penalty. No media member can factually tell us what was wrong or how severe the penalty will be.
