I feel so sorry for our young kids and future recruits. How will they ever get by if we don't provide them continuity. After all, we have gone thru TWO whole coaches since the SEC expansion. How can these poor young kids EVER survive without continuity in their lives. Thirteen years of Jackie Sherrill and 5 years of Crooms now. MSU is a veritable revolving door!!!

In the meantime:

Alabama - Gene Stallings, Mike Dubose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price*, Mike Shula, Nick Saban
Arkansas - Jack Crowe, Joe Kines, Danny Ford, Houston Nutt, Bobby Petrino
Auburn - Pat Dye, Terry Bowden, Tommy Tuberville
LSU - Curley Hallman, Gerry Dinardo, Nick Saban, Les Miles
Ole Miss - Billy Brewer, Tommy Tuberville, Classy David Cutcliffe, Ed Orgeron, Houston Nutt

Florida - Steve Spurrier, Ron Zook, Urban Meyer
Georgia - Ray Goff, Jim Donnan, Mark Richt
Kentucky - Bill Curry, Hal Mumme, Guy Morriss, Rich Brooks
South Carolina - Sparky Woods, Brad Scott, Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier
Tennesee - Johnny Majors, Philip Fulmer
Vanderbilt - Gerry Dinardo, Woody Widenhoffer, Bobby Johnson

Folks, that makes ONE other team in the SEC besides MSU that has only had two coaches in that period of time and that program owns a national championship. If continuity is the reason that the sheep fear getting rid of Crooms, then heaven help us all. We may as well become a IAA program.

than MSU, save perhaps Vanderbilt. The one time we fire a coach after three years we hire two of the best head coaches to ever grace the sidelines of Scott Field -- Murray Warmouth and Darrell Royal. The problem was keeping them. Since then every HC has received a minimum of 5 years and an average of around 7 years.

5 years is enough. If someone doesn't perform you fire them and move on. Don't make stupid contract extensions and raise salaries either. There was no reason to bump up Croom's salary so much. 1 million would have been fine and if he didn't like it...tell him to move on.

......I see some sheep talk about MSU never giving coaches enough of a chance. It's mind-boggling mythical garbage with no facts to support it.

as kind of the blueprint for a perfect coaching tenure- 12 years and that's it.

The days of guys like Bear Bryant, Vince Dooley, etc. staying 25 years is over.

So, if you can't get it done very quickly in the SEC now a days, you need to be gone.
