No, I don't think this thread is going away. As long as the mods don't interfere (why should they?). I have seen no ridiculous or distasteful post/posters here. If that happens, we simply ignore and report them.

As someone alluded to earlier (me thinks BBUK), the people here are good people. If there are any bad ones/one it would probably be me, but God helps keep me in check. I can be a pain sometimes.

With all of that, Prayers for those experiencing health and or other issues, and prayers for the rest of us because, well... we just need Gods hand in our lives.

Hump Day for the workers bees so, be careful out there.

My wife told me the vet wants to cut off a growth from my almost 13 year-old dog’s lip. Said it will cost $800. I asked how much is the biopsy. $300 of the $800. When I asked why would they biopsy a growth on a 13 year-old golden doodle dog’s lip, she had no answer. I gladly pay a lot monthly for his meds. They have helped him. But why would I need to know the pathological content of the growth? The last time I was at the vet and she examined him, she told us we needed to seriously consider end of life issue and how we wanted to handle that. Now excision AND pathology? Maybe someone with veterinary experience can answer that.

My answer? They own the lab. Cynical, I know.

Good morning folks. We going to let this thread die? I hope not. The trolls, crybabies and Chicken Littles have taken over the rest of the board for now. “Kentucky basketball is dead, and it will only get deader.”

Soring still trying to find itself in the east. But the cherry blossoms are out, along with magnolias and others, so the beauty of the season is trying to exert itself.

And all us baseball fans are at peak optimism. Even the Reds look like contenders in Spring Training, despite already losing their best pitcher for half the season and second best pitcher for awhile.

Hope you all are having a good day.
I try bumping when time permits. Thankfully we have this refuge from Rafters insanity.

Thankee, thankee... (In my best Walter Brennan voice...)

Man, I am NOT slowing down..

Told my family this is getting to the point of ridiculous. They better start thinking a little... (Did it work, nope.)

May have to just get in my car myself and drive for three or four days and see if that wakes anyone up...

I had seriously hoped I'd be doing that this Saturday morning and still may BUT, the way My Darling is hobbling around I seriously doubt it. Car riding hurts her as bad. She wants a new garden dug though...

I have several HOT items coming up the next 25 or so days that will align my retirement trajectory either level from where it is at or raise it significantly... We shall see...

I have some serious funding ideas for my grand children I can start and undertake to get them a great start when they grow up and come of age... I am trying to get to the point of having that "time"... We shall see....

I haven't had a Yuengling in two weeks at least and need one but NOoooo, who has time... Got to jump in bed and be up again and at it......

I said the above to state now: I AM thankful.... All will work out to the one that matters...

I have been interjecting here when I can and lately have been publishing books in comparison to past posts. (Well, sort of...)

Have an up and at'em kind of day.

It seems I am leaving now to pick up the BB instead of his Mom. (He doesn't know it yet.) Papa always brings a snack though so there is that...

Going to take him to our church youth meeting where they are going to have a small party for the cast of a play they just finshed up last night... Oh, Jonah!

Good morning folks.

Still chilly in the east. It is my wife’s birthday, so as part of that we’re going out to one of her favorite restaurants in DC tonight. That will be fun.

Am I right that the MLB season starts today? I’ve lost track. And the tourney continues. There are certainly teams I want to lose but I don’t care that much, once Kentucky is out. None of my deeply hated teams advanced: UNC, Indiana, Kansas, UCLA or Louisville. I read somewhere this was the first Sweet 16 since 1954 without at least one of Kentucky, UCLA, UNC or Kansas. Things are changing and not for the better.

Off to work. Have a great day. ,

Yeah, the Reds used to always be the first game of the season. I guess other teams wanted their share of the limelight and just said screw tradition. Reds don't play their first game until Wednesday next week.

Edited: Oops, I stand corrected. The Reds first game is tonight. Don't know where my head is right now.

Warrior, I’m old enough to remember the schools in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky going half day on Opening Day so kids and their parents could attend the big parade in downtown before the game. Vada Pinson! Frank Robinson! Chico Cardenas! Jim O’Toole and Jim Maloney! Pete Rose, the rookie! Gordy Coleman (“Watch him. He puts his foot in the bucket. Good morning guys! First post in what feels like forever and definitely the first one sans Paddock.

Wanted to share something personal with my anonymous friends - I am one month shy of a year in sobriety. Was headed down a really dark, deep hole into my wife convinced me to get some help - which I did and it may have saved my life.

Wishing & praying for the best for all of you. If life gets too much, never be afraid to ask for help - no matter your age.

Peace.

If anyone is interested about NIL $ info. A cousin was a frosh at a D1 mid major in the CAA . Eighth in minutes on his team. His grandma told me today that next year his pay will be 50 grand.
I had a similar discussion with a woman whose nephew was leaving juco for a lower division school down south. I think she said $50k plus a membership to the local club.

Well, going to service the riding lawn mower here in a short. Get it ready for the season. Grass is starting to inch up. Service today and cut tomorrow.

Already cleaned the house so...
My house is a black hole for yard equipment.....every spring I have to spend days working on the lawnmower, tiller, weed eater....no matter how I prep them in the fall they never want to start in the spring......today I tackle the power washer.....the Director wants the driveway cleaned......it doesn't seem to matter to her that the water bill goes to the moon when clean the drive......retirement is great!

Good morning from ATX. 63°F / 84°F today's numbers.

Hopefully Pope and incoming AD right the program. If not, then changes coming. I'll just leave it at that.

Personally speaking, lots of work going on so I can retire from current job by May 29.

Wife continues losing weight from the cancer. She's on painkillers. Hope she at least makes it until I retire.

But, there's always a bright side, a light at the end of the tunnel.

Y'all take care and have a great day.
We keep you, your wife and family in our thoughts....

I was a member of the Masons for 40+ yrs......every year the head Poopah of the Sottish temple would send every member of the KY Masons tickets to the opening game at Cincinnati....I can't usually sit long enough to watch a ball game so I always gifted them to friends in N, Kentucky.

Good morning from ATX. 69°F and cloudy. Cold front moving in tomorrow evening.

Very busy lately. Preparing for retirement. Lead also retiring next Tuesday. Worked 15 years with him.

Y'all have a great day.
You are about to be very, very busy........I have been retired about 25 years......I still haven't caught up with the projects that the Director wants done.....this year she wants a goldfish pond off of the deck.........she has a 1,000 gal pond at the back of our lot......she wants it closer to the house.......all she has is wishes and wants......and I am going to try to keep up.......I keep telling her to not give up on me......I will keep trying to make something out of my life......

W-c, Reds play at home today at 4:10 edt.

Yes, used to always be first game. Now they still get to open season at home - & today. I think assuring first game got complicated with all the $$$ involved. They did get a TV contract with MLB. Don't know details.

First game of season was last night: NYY at SF. 7-0 NY.

Great days.
Grandpa loved baseball & Reds. Md, he played for the Twelve Mile All-Stars right around 1900. In 1966, he got ticks & I got to drive him & me to the game. Sat far down LF line where outfield terrace started. Great day - "Pop", me, sunshine, baseball & Reds. BTW, he attended at least one game of the 1919 Black Sox Series.

Hello all,

Been sitting at my computer most all morning. Just now looking outside of work items.. Man it is coming up for sure... In any event, I am thankful...

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow right after I take the BB to school. He stayed over last night. My Darling and I really enjoy the time we get with him. My Darling is going to cook steak tonight. He had spaghetti yesterday that he loves...

They are putting the final coating of our blacktop in our subdivision starting tomorrow. I still am not sure My Darling and I won't hop in our car and hit the road for a few days. It will be a last minute thing... Getting ready to pull my Mazda into our driveway and then pull our Camry behind it. (Have to clear the parking areas here...) We have a one car garage but it is full. The drive will barely fit our two cars back to back but it is what we have...

Enjoy the rest of your days...

Now that sounds reasonable. Would he consider bumping up level & thus pay?

I don't know. It is a fairly highly rated med school and i think he is interested in sports medicine. If he broke out and became a star, it would have to be tempting.

Yeah, I corrected it.

Watching the game in fact right now. Abbot on the mound allowed 5 hits in the first three innings but no score so... Not sure if true, but announcers said he had around an 11 ERA in spring training. If so... Wow.

Reds lose in regular fashion as last year. 3-0, No offense. Bases loaded in the 6th 1 out and Suarez up to bat (brought in from the Mariners because he hit 49 home runs last year but also struck out 196 times 4th in the majors) he of course struck out as did the next batter.

Reds lineup not different than last years other then Suarez. Stewart (only one to get multiple hits today) played 1st, McClain 2nd, De Le Cruz short, Hays 3rd. Marte, Friedle, and Steer in the outfield. Stephenson catching and Abbot pitching. One change from last years lineup. No real fix for the offense.

Good morning folks.

It may be March but yesterday felt like Ground Hog Day. Reds start the season scoring zero runs. And Calipari gets obliterated by the first real team he faces in the tournament. I guess I went 1-2 because I’m glad to see the Calipari who quit on Kentucky fail at Arkansas. Pope gets one more year to show he can succeed. I already know Calipari never will again. Not beyond the Sweet 16. His teams don’t defend and his offense is, “I got NBA guys who can take your guys one-on-one.” That worked for the first few years of one and done. But not with NIL.

Working from home today. Hope you all have a good one.

Good morning everyone.

It's been a good few days....we got to do a bit of fishing and caught several trout, hiked to our local falls (Bad Branch Falls) and got plenty done outside. It's amazing what I can do in the spring when UK basketball is over.

I'm off to Lexington this morning to have some more skin cancer cut out.....on my nose. It will be uncomfortable for a day or two so I guess I'll be watching some B-ball this weekend even though I have no interest once Kentucky loses. Hope to be able to go to the lake next week.

I hope everyone has a good day.

AD and company are not walking in to play for Cal soon. They made Cal. He has lived off their success for years!!!

Self never lied when he said he ran out of time. UK was destroying ku and then Cal made the team play his way. That is when ku made their run.

Anyway, hello all,

Sitting in the doctor office. Should be soon. Enjoy this day the Lord has made…

Good morning folks. A clear, bright and cold spring day in the east.

Heading out for a run, then I plan to take the subway down to the city and walk among the cherry blossoms on the tidal basin of the Potomac.. A highlight every year I've been in Washington.

My wife and daughter have headed out on their annual "Spring Break" trip to coincide with my daughter the teacher's break. This year they are going to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. In previous years they have gone to Rome, Paris, London, Cancun. Must be nice. I wonder how they afford it. Oh yeah, I pay for it. Well, they are worth it.

I hope you all have a good day.

Morning Legionnaires!

48° this morning with 20-25mph winds making feel in the 30's. Monster walk coming up shortly after workout.

#18 Batcats (21-4) beat LSU 7-4 in Baton Rouge last night and have another game this afternoon at 3:10 CST. So far, Cats looking pretty good out there.

Not much going on today with the wind picking up. Was going to put new flip back on the Maverick but will wait to install on a warmer, less windy day.

You folks enjoy the day and rest peacefully with God's good grace.

Going to watch grandsons play baseball today in 49 degree temperatures so we’ll bundle up. Looking forward to our church service for Palm Sunday. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good morning everyone.

Surgery went fine yesterday. I have 4 internal stitches and 8 running down the bridge of my nose. It was a little uncomfortable yesterday, but OK now. Slept good too!

The Williams (Mason???) kid should be OK. Anybody with shooting %'s of 60/41/89 this year in HS is worth taking.

I won't be doing much for a day or two. Wind predictions are getting worse for next week so fishing trip may be postponed.

Have a great one.

58°F here in ATX. Leaving for grocery shopping around noon.

@storm1507 : Get well soon.

Vols beat Cyclones last night. They play Wolverines tomorrow. Never thought I'd say this, but hope TN beats Michigan.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Eweee what you said….

Michigander part removed, don’t do the rocky top shuffle…

(This from a man who’s Dad is buried in Tennessee..)

Hello all,

My Darling and I are heading out to a couples luncheon at a church members house… I think. Near 40 miles away though so who knows….

The BB is in SA. My Darling and I are alone…. The BB is happy so I am thankful.

Have a blessed day.

Heal up Storm and get back at it.

MdW,

Will you adopt me too? Note: You may have to send us to different countries though. wc might be the kind that holds a grudge. I am almost tax deductible. Will be in about three months anyway…

I will see what neutral pics I can take and post later.
