HA, just for full disclosure, I "gradeeated" the 12th grade in 79. My class actually walked the isle the 14th of June but I had to graduate early and actually cannot remember the reason. It had to do with my grandmother or grandfather but I actually received my diploma the 11th of June, 1979. The day John Wayne died...

I batted against many high level pitchers. Dave Roberts of the Tigers who happened to be at my tryout. I think in 76. I hit him well back then. I batted against several of the old Detroit league (Can’t remember the exact name of the league.) fast pitch softball pitchers. I understood it to be a paid league. I had a good chance to compare back then. The thing that messed me up the most is the deception of the softball pitchers. Following the trajectory was more difficult.

Had a couple players mention to me that the natural movement of the human arm was under handed as compared to over handed. Made sense at the time but the pitching distance plus the path of the pitch always had me curious as to which was harder given picking only one. I liked hitting against overhanded pitchers better than the underhanded heat. I guess that decides it for me… Eerie to me and more deceptive on the underhanded path…

Ole Ralph Houk said it of me best… he said my last name … “For ten games you can play with anyone. After that you “ain’t” worth Schmidt.” I guess so as my tryout period was about twenty games…. 😆 (I can laugh now…).
Under hand motion is more natural, but throwing overhand with legs kicks stepping into the pitch help create more velocity.

Good morning folks. Happy Monday.

Been working from home since about 6am. Can't get used to the time change yet so might as well do something with my time.

My wife has a crew of painters in changing the look of some of the rooms on our first floor. I didn't thin we needed it, but what the hell. It's not to worst way to keep her from figuring out even more expensive stuff to do.

Bengals with a heart-attack game. I don't know if Burrow throwing five TDs and running for one to win in OT is the formula for a deep Playoff run, but I guess we'll find out. The encouraging thing is that the defense shows flashes. Dexter can be unstoppable, as he was to save the game late with a sack. Maybe they just need a little more time as a unit.

I hope you all have a good week ahead.

Oh, I fully agree but what is the difficult part is determining the exact release point and trajectory of the ball. You can time overhand a lot better than you can time the underhand motion, especially in fast pitch softball you lose sight of the ball and hand at times.

Hello All,

The BB and I got up early around 0830. ;) We slept upstairs due to my oldest bringing my granddaughter at around 0600. My Darling handled that this morning.

Had pancakes and bacon My Darling cooked... I endulged.

Have a fine day...

Ha,

My wife has a backsplash being installed this Thursday in her kitchen. Then she is going to repaint as well. Our place is only three years old but I doubt they used five gallons of paint in the entire house. ;)

With the talent Bengals have I have to question coaching and scheming on defense. Yes, they had "flashes" but they waited until it was almost dire to knuckle down. Although I will add that without those 3 interceptions Burrow threw, the game probably would have been over in regulation.

Good morning folks. Chilly and gray in the east. November, for sure.

Chugging along on the subway. I need to get to work early. I suppose I’ll vote on my way home tonight. Polls open until 8…I can tell you voting in my county if Maryland in mid-cycle elections doesn’t amount to much; the slightly lesser of two evils, knowing you are going to be swamped by others voting for the greater of two evils.

Cats open the hoops season tonight. I guess I’ll get excited when they actually take the floor, but that old feeling hasn’t grabbed me yet. I see Oklahoma got beat by East Texas A&M. So anything can happen these days, when every player is for sale every year.

I hope you all have a pleasant day.

Hello All,

Been pretty calm today but I think its about to get crazy.

I hope the Cats start this season RIGHT!!!! Go Cats!

Take it home even in this first "game"....

Me and the BB hung out today, I am readying to take him home to his Mom for the night. (In about an hour...) My daughter works tomorrow but they have been away from each other three days... The BB has school in the morning after being off two days... Yep, Papa will take him if the Lord doesn't take me home....

You all enjoy and stay engaged in this upcoming "Rest of the day".... ;)

Good morning from ATX. 57°F and clear, dry and calm. Nice out. Expecting mid-70s for our high.

Streamed last night's game. After a characteristically slow start, Cats opened it up. Lights out shooting.

Must change out and ignition switch later today. Still packing.

Happy Hump Day, y'all.

Good morning folks. Some positives for the basketball Cats last night against weak competition. Saw some good things from Hawthorne, Kepnang and Zoom had his moments. Milan is everything he has been advertised to be. Cautiously optimistic.

Great to see the football team poised at #6. Still a long way to go, but it is right there to be grasped.

You all have a great day.

Good friend passed away last evening. We used to do Boone County football stats together from the sidelines back in the glory days of Shaun Alexander. Good times, particularly the beers afterwards. He was a big time smoker and has been fighting lung cancer for 5 years or so. 75 I believe.

Hellur….just dropping in to ask if Wildcatdon has had a resurface or if anyone knows if he’s still with us. We had discussed meeting a while back at some point and I assume it’s possibly a little late for that but was hoping. Anyone have anything about Don? I remember the trains in this thread!!

Good morning folks. Up early to get in a jog before work. Beautiful morning in the east. We’ve had as nice a run of weather over the past three or four weeks as I can remember.

Glad to see Pope reel in that massive center. I watched all the video I can find. He looks like he can move pretty well, even has a nice shooting touch and good reactions. The ceiling is high which it has to be when you are 7.5” Can’t wait to see him after a year getting better.

Hope you all have a great day.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

53° this morning with light winds. Today's high to be in the mid 60's.

Been a light workout week for me as the body is tired and sore still from all of the tournaments and other stuff I do. Been contemplating taking a week off of everything to see how that works out. Still have nagging quad and hamstring pain (same leg) where the hamstring hurts just sitting in certain positions. Getting old. Have one more weekend of co-ed softball league play and will probably have a tournament the weekend after so, I will wait until that is over to relax for about a week.

Enough about my miseries, here is to hoping that all is well for you guys and God Bless.

Good morning from Lake Cumberland.

We're finally finished remodeling with only a few curtains, etc to put up. I listened to the game....seemed everything is coming together. Amazing how things work on the BB floor when the shots are falling.

Getting the huge commitment and our playoff ranking is icing on the cake.

Kind of a sad time for us since we're not going to hunt this fall due to the Alpha Gal. We're enjoying the fall weather, but just missing a big part of who we are. Life just keeps changing.

Have a good one and get ready for a great UK weekend.

Good morning, everyone. Been reading through this thread this morning to get caught up. I hope everyone is doing well. Working from home today, so I have a little extra time this morning. Warm and rainy here in Pennsylvania, but we haven't had any rain for two weeks or so, so I can't complain. Looking forward to watching the basketball Cats again tomorrow night. I think they have potential. Have a good day!

Hello All,

Up earlier than usual but settling down some now. Had to ensure all was ready for some workers that are supposed to be installing a backsplash in My Darlings kitchen. They stated they'd arrive between 0800 and 1100... We shall see...

Hopefully I will be able to sit at my desk most of the time but I have to watch My Darling for dust. It seriously bothers her breathing. Hopefully not much. I will give the house a serious dusting and cleaning afterward that I haven't done in a good while. (Ceilings, curtains, walls...)

Enjoy your day(s) and keep safe...

Lost another pair of friends, a couple, over the weekend - him Friday & her Monday. Both had been seriously ill for years. He was 86-87, her 83 or so. Dam.
So sorry for your loss prayers for you and those family members! I've always heard and have actually seen that usually when couples have been together for years and years when one goes usually the other isn't far behind.

I'm 47 and my wife is 48 we have been together for 26 years and married 22 years that's over half our lives so if something was to happen to my wife I honestly don't know what I'd do.
