Lol. There would be calls for impeachment if a republican accepted a $30K gift. Aside from that, your blind loyalty is cringe worthy. I would expect that most people would at least question the ethics here. But nah, dems can't do wrong. They all have the best intentions and are looking out for the poors. Except the ones they step over in the streets of their districts on the way home to their gated communities and their $20,000 refrigerators.
i dont think i ever gave my personal opinion on the situation, except for my assumption followed by ?????????? which i completely believe is ironic with the message in regards to the participants of the event.....but dont politicians attend events and dinners all the time that had exorbitant prices per plate and such?

Designers buy tables and invite celebrities to showcase their designs. Politicians are celebrities. Politicians make appearances at all kinds of events where their presence is worth the price of admission. AOC was doing the designer a favor.
*not my words*

Designers and corporate sponsors generally pay the hefty price of admission — $35,000 a ticket, or $200,000 to $300,000 a table — for the gala’s guests, who typically include a quorum of Kardashians, Hollywood A-listers and supermodels. The star-studded event is often referred to as the Oscars of fashion.

Yes. Politicians have "fund raisers" where they collect money from lobbyists and other special interests groups. I don't like that either. It's legal corruption. But not related to the hypocrisy from AOC.

Can't refute? Just slander.
I've already stated my thoughts. You just find ways to wiggle yourself out, as all you libs do. What she did is just so Washington. They play both sides. She's playing to her donors, then will turn around and scream about the same people to her voting base.

The fact that you and Boogie are defending her is just so telling of the sad decline of our country. You fools just snuggle up to your party. You ought to be outraged. If it was McConnell you would be. And I'd agree with you.

how is she "playing" to her donors while wearing a dress that says the people in the crowd should be taxed more.....are not some of her donors ones at the event?

There is no hypocrisy if in your mind, she was there to send a message to the attendees. But it was nothing more than a photo op and pandering. She is known to live a pretty lavish lifestyle for a member of Congress. Especially early in their political careers. She does not deserve the benefit of the doubt here. She champions the poor, but has multiple luxurious condos and hangs with big dollar people. Just like all the other politicians who champion for the poor, she does nothing to make a difference herself. Her idea to help the poor is to tax the rich. Do you really believe that the government, who has plenty of money already that goes to waste on stupid ****, would be responsible with even more tax dollars and would all of the sudden stop wasteful spending and do something that would actually help the poor? My guess is the poor would still get poorer and wasteful spending would get worse. And politicians would vote to give themselves a raise. These politicians have plenty of money to help people, but that would mean giving up on some luxuries and that ain't going to happen.

It's a freaking sham man. It's disappointing that you can't see this for what it is. You don't think the folks in her district should raise their eyebrows with her pandering at such an expensive gala? And you don't think she is indebted to the same people that paid her way?

Newsflash: she ain't a bartender anymore. What she is is a perfect illustration of how f'd up DC is.

Exactly what does this "lavish lifestyle" entail? Multiple luxury condos? How many, exactly? Two? Is it two? One in DC, one in NYC? Even Fox News says you're wrong. So you're accusations of hypocrisy are based on debunked crap you never even tried to check for yourself. You liked it, so you accepted it as true, and spread the lie further.

What kind of garbage response is this? Where did I say that she was a millionaire? Where in this article does it dispute anything I said? I also alluded to other politicians who have been getting rich in politics for much longer than your ditzy hero. What say you on that? What has AOC done personally for poor people? Why do you focus only on things you believe your little fact checkers can prove wrong and ignore the overall message? I have a lot of questions that you won't answer.

Here's a link to her campaign donor info. You can click around on various tabs for breakdowns by election cycle, PACs, etc. Something that stands out for me is that she accepted a measly $63.2K from PACs in the last election cycle, $46.5K of which came from Labor. As in labor unions, the actual workers in this country. Now she's going to be beholden to taking care of the little guy?!?! Oh, the horror.

There's no stink on her. You're smelling your own lies.

Your questions are illegitimate. What has she personally done for poor people? Personally? You mean beside advocate for them consistently and relentlessly at every turn? You mean besides not selling out her ideals in the slightest, contrary to your lie about her "lavish" lifestyle? Well, she hasn't provided the poor with dead-end jobs at slave wages that keep them poor and they better be grateful for, so I guess you got me there.

I said lavish lifestyle for a congresswoman. Especially at the beginning of her career. This is not a lie. Advocating for a demographic on a political platform with no real solutions or meaningful outcome is not doing anything at all. It is pandering. And both sides of the aisle are guilty of deliberately empty promises. She is a fraud just like the rest of them and even worse, she has a cult following for no other reason than her blabbering mouth spitting out ******** talking points that resonate with dumb progressive sheep.

I’ll give you guys credit. You stay loyal to your party no matter what. Not me. What she did just reeks of hypocrisy. Defend her all you want, but she’s learned how to play the game in a short time.

That much spin is getting me dizzy.Liberals consistently think their politicians are above the fray and stay true to their principles.Petsonally I think that the old saying that power corrupts and total power totally corrupts .AOC is a young person who totally enjoys the attention she receives. When you combine that with the fact she is not very bright she is totally amenable for corruption

Lest you forget that she vociferously campaigned to deny Amazon the opportunity to build a facility in her district, which cost her constituents jobs and money into their district.....yet she is attending a Hunger games Capitalesque party....she no longer represents District 14 NY she is now part of the Capital Elite....and loves it by the look of it.

Liberals love suckers like you. You buy everything they sell without any consideration for what their real motives are. Anybody gullible enough to believe that taxing the rich more will do anything for the poor has no business having a vote. Billions in waste every year and you think giving the government MORE money to waste is smart.

And yet Labor is the most represented group among her donors. Perhaps there's more to this than conservatives ever acknowledge.

Amazon sucks. Their jobs suck. The people they would employ in her district would still need govt assistance to make ends meet and Amazon wouldn't reinvest a cent into the district.

One set of talking points. ( and opinion..sucks is an opinion)....vs.....

And it seems her constituents wanted it....

Fifty-seven % of polled voters said they think Amazon’s exit was bad for the city while only 32% argued the opposite.
Oh, Amazon says Amazon is awesome? 🤨

The same poll cites her overall popularity in her district. How do conservatives' heads not explode from trying to reconcile that complexity?

Again you miss the main point donors give that money to influence politicians in order to make more money in the future.AOC was a bartender who was barely getting by to making 174000.00 per year and people kissing her butt.Tell me any 30 year old that would not do anything to keep this going

According to latest census there are 712000 people on her district. She received 110000 votes in a district that had not voted Republican since 1949.How is that overwhelming approval

Maybe thats the nuance - we do understand....you can like or dislike a person but like or agree with a policy...the two can be mutually exclusive....it seems that some people are incapable of doing that these days....examples abound. Popularity of the individual excuses abhorrent and asinine policy decisions at Local, State and Federal levels and wins elections....stature over substance
What makes my head explode are those that cannot separate the two.

Yes, and...

some people are incapable of merging the two, instead using their dislike of an individual to condemn all decisions.

Kind of like the 4 years we had with Trump, huh? I didn’t like listening to him speak, but he made good decisions.
You libs refuse to do that. Your anger at him kept you from seeing what he did. Party politics.
