And yet you’ll make excuses about how dropping rocks off a bridge requires shooting people, if it comes to that.
Bricks falling on a windshield can cause serious injury or accident. Not to mention large rocks. Quit being willfully obtuse.

I would mention January 6th, but apparently our President’s having pardoned them a few months ago and y’all still talking about how Ashley Babbitt was the only real victim still means I’m bringing up something from over 4 years ago.
A lot of the people he pardoned spent 3 years in prison without ever being told what crime they committed. You are obsessed with January 6th. But want to talk about these events like they're mostly peaceful and any response would just escalate things into violence. Show me where grandmas are out there burning cars and throwing rocks at cops. And I will show you a grandma that deserves to go to prison. Not a grandma who basically took a guided tour through the Capitol.

Every conservative here believes anyone on January 6th who caused destruction or was violent, deserved jail time. I've yet to see you do anything more than vaguely speak out against the idiots who cause violence in your favorite type of riots.

Prosecuted, convicted, sentenced… and pardoned.

Whataboutism? Like b-b-but LBJ sent the National Guard into Alabama?
They spent months or years in jail. Compared to not even charged.
Time served seems appropriate for trespassing on federal property. For a fake insurrection you can just make up whatever sentence you feel is appropriate

I’ve already said I don’t support the Marines being called in so I don’t feel the need to go further right now.

A stuttering joke? From a teacher? Really?
Using the name of a beloved fictional icon? And what purpose did that serve exactly?

I brought up the 65 example because a) it was in the article I linked and b) the narrative in the msm will be that this is the first time a Pres has ever federalized the Guard absent the Gov’s request.
Ah, so you brought up a very different previous example preemptively, so msm can’t get that detail wrong when you’re tying a completely different use to this one.

You are claiming you don’t support the decision so that you can distance yourself from the catastrophic results you know are possible.

But you’re already justifying those same possible results talking up how violent the left is.

You spoke too soon, @GhostOf301 .
No I didn't. It was not an insurrection. It was a riot where people turned violent. And those people deserved jail time.
.no one has ever answered this question. And you won't either. They have spent 4 years telling us that this was an insurrection. But not a single person was charged with insurrection charges. Why?

That probably all sounded very clever in your head, but I’m not merely claiming that I don’t support the decision. I don’t support it period for the reasons already given.
You like to claim that we support DJT sheepishly, but when we disagree with drastic tariffs, inappropriate tweets, or this particular decision it’s not because we’re capable of independent thought or of being impartial, but that we want to distance ourselves from impending catastrophe. Interesting take.
We’re not talking up how violent the left is. It only seems as if we are compared to the crickets you hear from the Left. Newsom has addressed it, but most still are in denial mode.

Y'all can't even criticize the deployment of Marines without pivoting to leftist violence and what-did-you-think-would-happen scenarios.

Whatever it takes. You have people that can’t abide by the laws, this is what you get. The police department is undermanned (no surprise), so measures have to be taken to stop the thugs.

Typical answer by @Dattier. He lets his itty bitty feelings get in the way of facts.

We have said that we don't support it. There is nothing we can do about it. You are giving us what if scenarios and we are giving you what our response to those what if scenarios would be.

Talk to the guy who tried to call me out for name-calling about whose itty bitty feelings are hurt..

"This is what you get"? Again, this sounds like a preemptive justification of anything the Marines might do. The LAPD police chief has acknowledged and condemned violence directed at LEO, and still hasn't asked for a National Guard presence, let alone the Marines.

Yes, this is what you get. Did you not read the part about the police department being undermanned? The sad thing is you're focusing on the use of military, yet staying a little too quiet on the thugs protesting.

Again, this is real simple. Obey the law by protesting peacefully.

I've condemned the violence. What do you expect, for me to renew my condemnation of it every 2 hours?
The LAPD chief hasn't said the first thing about being undermanned. Nobody rejects aid they need for the sake of partisan politics.
Everything everyone else should do is simple, according to you.

You do realize the police chief is walking lockstep with the mayor, don't you? The mayor appointed him, and she's gone public with her dissatisfaction with Trump. This is Politics 101 in LA.

Good for you to condemn the violence. Now take it a step further and approve the military being there. Freedom of speech is allowed, but it can't have chaos with it.

Since LA is a sanctuary city, that’s a ridiculous comment if law abiding Angelenos should have to wait until the clowns in charge actually decide to enforce the law or call in help. They only started getting serious after the Guard was called in so they can posture “ we had things under control” to paint Trump as overreaching.

As much as Leftists enjoy the smell of a good fire, Americans aren’t going to tolerate another “ Summer of Love” fiasco/ tragedy.
In some ways, it would have been better for Trump to have let the Dems handle it themselves so they can once again show their total incompetence to the whole world. But Trump was elected to restore law and order, and having our second largest city be relegated to an ash heap just won’t cut it. Sorry, Minneapolis and Seattle this is how you quell riots.

**Obligatory disclaimer for the intentionally befuddled: I support the use of the NG in this situation, but not the deployment of Marines at this juncture.

No he doesn’t realize.
It’s been explained to him the simplest way I know how. Clearly doesnt understand how city politics work if he thinks the Police Chief operates entirely outside of the realm of politics. This is what he’s willing to do in order to “win” an argument, intentionally lie and distort. He knows full damn well the Police Chief would first have to voice his concerns to Bass who would then call Gov Hair Gel. This is how the chain of command works.

You said Trump was elected to restore law and order, so I have no issue with the Guard and Marines being there. These people have to know what will happen when you act like animals. Maybe the residents in the next city will think twice.

That the mayor appoints the police chief does not mean that the police chief does everything in lockstep with her. And neither of them, separately or together, would sacrifice their constituents' well-being for the sake of a disingenuous political stance.

I take it you do approve of our President's decision to deploy the National Guard and Marines?

On that note, I think Dallas tried to get a little something going last night, but it was put to bed early. Criminals know not to FAFO in red states, where laws are enforced and criminals are treated like criminals, not coddled like two year olds throwing a temper tantrum at PF Chang’s like in the “ Summer of Love”

It sounds to me like you are advocating for the use of deadly force and dehumanizing people so that it feels more acceptable to kill them. And it sounds like you think this is a good cautionary tale to deter the next city, where you'll support our President's use of deadly force again.

I'll let actual conservatives take this on.

On your first part, do you think the police chief is publicly going to disagree with his boss? Not sure how you can say what you did. Or you're intentionally doing what you're doing for the sake of a good debate.

Do I approve of the President deploying the NG and Marines. ABSOLUTELY.

This is a stretch Datt. Any logical person would take “ have to know what will happen to them” to mean arrest and possible deportation if applicable, but to accuse another poster of calling for murder of protesters is extreme even by your standards.

I am in 100% agreement with deadly force if the protests aren't being held peacefully, and they refuse to stop acting like animals. You have to squash the trouble, or we'll have another Seattle, Minneapolis fiasco on our hands. The President has to protect the good citizens. Make sure you read this part again if you need to. I don't want you twisting what I'm saying.

If this happened in your hometown, I can imagine you clinging to the leg of a cop or military person, crying out "Save Me!!" if you found yourself suddenly in a hostile situation.

There are apparently 30 or more protests happening in cities across the country, including many in Democrat-run cities and blue states. The great majority of them seem to be peaceful.

I understand reluctance to disagree in public. I do not accept that they are compromising their consciences. If you are rejecting the police chief's word on the basis that he is just doing what the mayor says, you are therefore accusing them both.

@Dattier, let me be clear. Whatever it takes to calm the situation down. If they abide by the commands of the military, then everything will be fine. But, if they won't listen, and continue to act like animals and attack them, then the military should mow their asses down.

Seem to be peaceful? So you aren't sure. But, if they are peaceful, then they have nothing to worry about.
Mostly peaceful. Play it again Sam
As soon as I leave out a qualifier like that, y'all go and find the single arrest made somewhere and use it as some "gotcha" to claim I'm wrong.

That's yet another problem with y'all: you're almost always sure, without remotely enough evidence.

Even if they're not peaceful, they shouldn't have to worry that our Armed Forces will be used domestically.

Do you even know what you said with this statement? How are you supposed to diffuse the situation then?

I can see the military now, "Stop it guys. I mean it, stop. Please stop. Don't make me count to 3."

What an idiotic comment Datt.
