1. For all the hype and rankings the S. Panola kids get coming out of high school, how many of them have actually made it the NFL<div>2. How many of those kids that have gone to TSUN made it to the next level, and how many (the few) that have attended State have made it.</div><div>

sorry, I thought it was a great question. Think we are still looking at Mix from SP.

Market chose to come to State. Only other one I can remember is Pegues. Didn't he have an injury issue his senior year?

Seems like there have been some with academic issues, some with 'attitudes' and some with both ... while some seem like good kids. Obviously, HS coach seems to get them playing together.

I would like to know what folks think that actually follow Miss HS football.

Peria Jerry, John Jerry, Jamarca Sanford, Cassius Ware, and Eddie Strong were all SP guys who went to Mississippi and play/played in the NFL. Chris Strong, Chris Herring, Tig Barksdale, and now Snoop all went there and washed out for various reasons. Toward Sanford, Malikia Griffin, and several others had solid college careers there but weren't NFL guys. I know Griffin played in the CFL for a while, though.

We've had Kevin Cooper, Omar Henderson, Demetric Wright, Pegues, Mario Bobo, and Kendrick Market. Cooper was a big part of the '98 SECCG team. JWS always said he wish that he'd redshirted him in '97, because he wasn't fully healthy that year and we could've used him in '99. Omar was mostly a special teams players during that '98 run. DP should've played NFL ball, but couldn't keep it together off the field. Bobo had a solid career until getting inexplicably cut by Crxxms before his senior season. Jury is out on Market's career.

A few others went out of state: Deshea Townsend, Dwayne Rudd, Antuan Bradford, and Chris Young. Deshea & Rudd played in the NFL for a a long time. Bradford and Young had solid college careers but never made the League.

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but those are the ones I remember. Bottom line is they have had plenty of "productive" players from SP, but the talent required to make the NFL is ridiculous. I'd love for us to be able to crack open the pipeline and get a few more of those guys, but I don't think it'll ever happen. There's just too much hometown pressure put on those guys to go wear Confederate Grey. We'll continue poaching one here and there, but the vast majority will always play for Mississippi. It's just that simple. I still believe if Brassell hadn't committed to us so early and followed his heart to come to State, he wouldn't be having some of the problems he's having now.

People forget about Qyen Griffin being down there, along with Tig Barksdale(a 3.0 student this past semester), and a likely landing spot for Brassell now. That's their 3 most talented players from the past 5 years on a single college team. Brassell committed to Hudspeth here...and the stuff on his decommitment didn't really come around until after Hud left. Hud is building a monster down there. I really hope he doesn't do too well too fast, as I'd like to keep him as heir apparent in the future...

Hud has inroads at USP. He will never pull their premiere talent to ULL(without them having baggage or grade issues), but he would/will pull a good bit of it at MSU if those cards ever play out. JMO...

Godfrey's opinion on all this is pretty enlightening really: https://twitter.com/#!/38Godfrey
