WVU (19-14) opened up as a slight favorite over the Terrapins (21-12), even though Maryland is the higher seed.

The Mountaineers played a significantly harder schedule (No. 7 vs. No. 49),

Are seven spots higher in the NET Rankings (No. 24 vs. No. 31)

Have more games and more wins in Quad 1 (6-13 vs. 3-10).

WVU was 3-8 on the road and 3-2 in neutral-site games. Maryland was 2-9 and 3-2. About only numbers that have Terps even.

Tougher schedule + toughest conference in America gives WVU the edge.

On paper. By the numbers.

Trample the Terps!

Maryland has a top defense. Ball denial and play tight on the hip defense.

They play slow down half court offense. This lowers the oppositions total shot attempts.

WVU goes small ball and runs fast break and control their passes they can easily run away with it. Get caught up in a half court style and Maryland will kick the piss out of them.

Be interesting to see who guards Marylands 6'6 guard Hakim Hart. 48.2% FG 33% from 3 and averages 11.5 points a game.

But the score says Maryland.
You happy that I was wrong and WVU lost?

WVU its worst enemy, blew the game, 67-65.

13 seed Furman upset 4 seed Virginia, 68-67.

Bad day for the Virginias.

1 seed Kansas up 60-46 with 15:39 left.

Stevenson 9 points, 1 assist.

Keddy 27 points, 1 turnover.

WVU out-rebounded Maryland, 35-29.

3’s WVU 42.1%, Maryland 33.3%

WVU 12 turnovers. I think that’s 1st game Mountaineers lost with 12 or fewer turnovers.

Tre had 13 points, 1 of 2 Mountaineers in double digits. Maryland had FOUR in double digits.

I’d be happy if you learn from your mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes but I'm not a coward who is afraid to stick my neck out. The cowards just wait to see if those with courage get 1 out of a zillion wrong. I also rely on numbers which reduces my error rate. Note still 5 teams in March Madness that mathematically CAN reach Elite Eight before meeting each other. Top of the Big 12, too -- Kansas, Baylor, Texas, Kansas State and TCU -- so my saying 5 in Elite Eight still is possible.

So, who did NOT have Purdue on their March Madness brackets? FDU won FOUR games last season and knocks off 1 seed. Only 2nd 16 seed in history to win!
You claimed Purdue to be greatest team and compared WVU loss to them as a measuring stick for how great the Big 12 was.
