Final record aside, the main stink on Beamer's resume right now is not being able to field a good offense. With Briles, he has made what is widely regarded as his first good OC hire. Briles may not be the best OC in the game, but he's established and has a track of good offenses everywhere he's been, including another SEC school. If the offense stutters again next year, he's going to get that stigma of a head coach who can't keep his hands off the offense. So far we've been largely able to dump the offensive woes on bad OC hires, but that won't be the case with Briles. HOPEFFULLY, his decision to hire Briles signals a shift in his thinking and a realization that he needs to step back to CEO status and let the "experts" do their job. If things don't improve next year, consistently, he'll have the stigma of the coach who messed up a Briles offense.
