The Grove thread got me to thinking. Anyone on here old enough to have attended this tailgate. What would it be like today! Damn I hate to think. It was fun back then because you had family and friends from both schools tailgating side by side in that big area just south and west of the stadium, not to mention the big parking lot on the north east side.

i just don't think it would work well today with all of the hate between the two schools and hyper intense competition and emotions.

I was there...........

good times! Of course, State was beginning to win it's share which helped as far as I'm concerned. The numerous kids on here have no idea what it was like to play in Jackson and party afterwards, all in a relatively peaceful, safe and fun environment.

Don't remember much as a kid other than always ending up at the cherokee before or after the game.

I remember those days. Fond memories.

I like having the games on campus now but think having the Egg Bowl in Jackson would be great. Perhaps I'm just pining for the old times though.

I think you're talking about the old Millsaps golf course fairway hole # ??? along Woodrow Wilson where everybody parked and tailgated? I remember it well, that's now a Wendy's, women's softball field (yes Mutt women play sports) and practice field that the Saints had built and abandoned.

I remember when the Ole Miss-LSU game was in the afternoon, and the State-Alabama game was at night. Bear Bryant got that squashed though, when he said LSU didn't get out of the dressing room fast enough. Yeah, Jackson was relatively safe in those days.
