Go back to the numbers and compare Ravern's and Randy's shooting. Neither of them played worth a poop on defense yet they got plenty of minutes. Where is Stans benching Randy/Ravern for shooting like ****? Finally he removed Airvern after he whiffed on a horrible shot near the end of the game. Stans apparently has identified Airvern as his ***** for this season, I had wondered who would get that role.
People on here see two sides of Barry/Randy: Some see Barry, the senior who works hard, is usually in the right place on defense, tries hard, makes about 30-35% of his shots, gets some steals, and CAN make 4 three's in a row in a losing effort when we are down 18 with 3 minutes remaining, etc.....Others see Randy, who kills momentum with random dumbassed turnovers, shoots like hell when asked to create or shoot on the move, gets schooled by quicker guards, goes up weak to get rejected over and over and over like on the front page of the Starkville Daily News today for God's sake, and CAN'T make a single 3 with a game tied and 2 min remaining to save his life (credit thought for him actually showing up in the SEC tournament last year**). I happen to see more Randy.
This game reminded me of the first (at the hump) Olemiss game last year. Olemiss didn't have an answer for Kodi and he scored about 10-12 points in the first half and had an airheaded moment or two on defense and threw up one airball and blamo, gone for the rest of the game, a game in which Airry and Ravern shot like absolute ****. Loss. Similar pattern in the game this year. It is on Stans to work out his rotation, kick asses, do whatever behind the scenes to make it smooth. Kodi is a player. He should be in there with Jarvis. Jarvis needed help, especially in the second half. We looked lost. They had a couple of decent post players who wouldn't pick up their dribble and took it to skinny bones Varnado. Kodi could have helped. He knew it.
What is the rotation right now with no Bailey, no Reik, no Sidney, that makes it more difficult for Stans no doubt, but there should have been some solutions or zone options to protect Lewis? I guess we kind of tried that but Ravern and Randy got eaten up on the perimeter.
Sure it is just one loss, and yes, that was a pretty decent team, but it is the same ****** planning and conflict that we saw 1/3 of the way through the season (last year) that is eating our collective asses up right now.
Frustrating.
Kodi shouldn't speak out in the press confernences, but I see where he is coming from and happen to agree with him. The immediate answer is to start Turner in place of Ravern. Osby will probably have to play more 4 for the time being, until Sidney is cleared or Reik is cleared....especially if Kodi / Stans tell one another to suck it.
We could be so good with Bost, Turner and Varnardo. Those guys bring it every game. Sh*t.
