The one thing that baffles me about Sandusky and Paterno

is how they let him continue to come around the school- namely the athletic facilities? You would think after Paterno found out about what a sick 17 he was, he would have banned his ***- close friend or not. At least on some level- I can possibly understand him not turning in his longtime friend- but how in the mf'ing hell do you not ban him from stepping foot in any of the facilities ever again????

Instead, they help him by allowing him to sponsor kids events at their facilities- knowing what a sick 17 he is- and put even more kids thru all that by giving him an avenue to access. It just doesnt make any damn sense

As I've said before, there's only one explanation that makes sense to me. And as much as I hate Paterno, it's something I really hope isn't true. But it's the only thing that explains why he would have continued to let Sandusky use Penn St. as a recruiting tool.

Denial is a strong force, to ban Sandusky would be to admit that one of your long time friends was a predator. And him knowing his relationship with so many young boys, andhis own children, obviously affected is judgement. Or maybe he was just that caught up in his quest for the all time wins record he felt justified in ignoring it. Either way it's very disturbing and I have lost all respect for Joe Paterno as a result. If I were a Penn State alum I'd want to see his name and likeness removed from campus immediately. Football and money are not more important than protecting little kids.

Certainly Sandusky lied his *** off to Paterno and anyone else that would listen. Paterno probably took his word, and looked the other way.

"something" would have been in order...like aiding and abetting in a crime, or deliberately covering up for a pervert or something along those lines. Also, has the NCAA issued any kind of statement re lack of institutional control.

Jo Pa (if he were alive) that should be charged with accessory after the fact.....

They created a culture of cover up that allowed this guy to hunt.

We are gong to find out how much money those 17ers have got now!

If he were to explicitly ban Sandusky and anyone else knew about it, particularly if orders were given to security to not let Sandusky near the facilities or campus, then Joe would have been admitting he believe Sandusky was a predator. So, he let it continue and could claim ignorance. It is absolutely disturbing but it is the only thing I can think happened other than Joe joining Sandusky. No one has come out saying that at this time thank God (not for Paterno's sake but the children of course).

it's like people don't realize that schultz and curley are already awaiting trial on perjury and likely more crimes too. spanier may also face charges depending on the evidence.

should not just be considered a football factory, and I don't know if it should be exclusively or not 'cause I don't care BUT the irony of it was the more he tried to defend it, the more it sounded like that's about all it is. I believe that he selfishly protected that program regardless of what was going on and bears culpability for allowing the actions of Sandusky to continue on PSU property....what a damn mess. The more I think about it the more I wish they would get whacked with the death penalty.

to provide "people of a similar mindset" with access to what they desire. Given everything we know now I think it is something that has to be explored. I have real trouble finding any other reason for not booting his *** off campus. The whole "denial" thing doesn't work for me given the second issue where he knew for a fact that he raped a boy. Hell, you could make up a reason to keep him away from campus that is plausible without letting the story out if you had to. I am just having a really hard time understanding letting him continue to hang around.

the most disturbing actions/non-actions were from Paterno. No doubt about it. And you are right, I can't imagine that Freeh didn't go down that road in his investigation.

If it came out that Paterno joined Sandusky, I won't be surpised at all.

There's no way they could have banned him from the facilities without it raising eyebrows.<div>
</div><div>We have a couple of former players/coaches with similar access Sandusky had. What if all of a sudden they, nor their organizations operated as they had for over a decade. Somebody would ask questions.</div>

no need to make anything public- Paterno could have handled it one on one

that Sandusky had been seen in the company of a sports agent and in an attempt to uphold the reputation of the program they were asking him to refrain from coming on campus. I would have believed it...

Reporters would've dug into the story (any story, in my opinion) until all the lies imploded and the truth came out.

I'm not sure exactly what it is (I have a pretty good guess though), but you can count on the fact that we haven't heard the worst about Paterno. At least not yet.</p>

If Paterno had banned him when he first found out what was going on, he would have forced him to retire from being an assistant coach and not come back on campus every day instead of forcing him to retire and giving him full access. It would have been no different than any other assistant coach retiring. And he really wouldn't have even had to completely ban him. Just not let him bring his victims to campus.

Are you serious? We had the head coach of a SEC Basketball program a couple of years removed from the Final Four "retire for personal reasons" with nary a peep in the newspapers or on TV of what really happened.

After the second incident Sandusky "retired" and Penn State started telling football programs not to hire him. You don't think that's pretty suspicious? These people covered up this child molestation thing for 12 years, you really don't think they could have gotten his twisted *** off campus?
