"The one who does not remember HISTORY is BOUND to live through it again."

--George Santayana

How did I know that we would be down a quick 14-0 BEFORE (check the post) the game started? How did I know that Auburn would expose a weakness Memphis couldn't? Because while history is a witch, she NEVER lies. The single best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

I am NOT being negative, I (we all) have seen it before. It's simple observation, not negativism. When I was a freshman at State 31 years ago, Auburn (insert most other SEC schools here, too) were consistently bigger and better than us. They still are today, and will be 31 years from now. They are like the older brother that will ALWAYS be our older brother no matter how long we live. If or when we get an 80,000 set stadium, they will have a 110, 000 seat stadium. It's just the hand we were delt. I WANT to be wrong every year, but even I realize after about the third or forth time that beating my head against a brick wall will not make it fall.

What's my point? Well it sure as hell isn't that we should just give up. The point is 17'em!! We can still upset big brother sometimes and we might even win the SEC West one year with Mullen. But year end and year out, we will always be the little brother.

I know, I know...."that's a stupid, defeatist attitude...17 you...you're too negative...17 off... why do you even follow State?...eat me, you're not a fan..."

Well, only us real fans still pull for State, win or lose. Even after 31 years of exactly what happened today I can proudly say, GO STATE!!

Alot of truth in what you say.

State will alwYays be 7,8-5,4 at best and just below .500 other years. The only way we ever beat any SEC team other than OM and Vandy is for them to be down in talent and for us to get a few more turnovers. Same formula it has always been.

Well at least the Rebel agrees with you. I could sit here and explain to you with numerous examples how you are wrong but it's not worth my time. Just know you don't do our university any favors by saying "Go State". You are in fact holding us back. I personally think you are a ***** who is scared to believe in the team because it hurts when we lose. I'm not going to let one or two losses keep me from buying in and believing. I respect Mullen for busting his butt every day for our program and eventually it will pay off for him and us. Congratulations on "not buying in". You are a cool dude.

If we can consistently get our share of the top players in MS we can and will BUILD something here. It's about changing attitudes and expectations. To say we won't ever change is beyond stupid. Where was Oregon 15 yrs ago? Boise State? West Virginia? TCU? USF? Mizzou? South Carolina? I know these aren't all top tier programs, but thier circumstances are worlds away from where they were then. Hell, look at Miami before 1980.

The point is the "Big boys" weren't always big. At some point in thier history they hired the right coach that started the process. It just happens at different times for each team. I think Mullen can be that guy for us if he stays around long enough. Just look at the attitude/respect change that has happened with us in less than 3 yrs. Imagine if he could sustain that for 10, 15, 20 yrs...

Everybody needs to just calm the 17 down, we lost to an SEC team on the road...its going to happen. It's not the end of our program. We're in good hands. We'll regroup and hopefully give LSU hell Thursday night.

We would just quit in the past down14. We had good chances to win, time to get on Thursday and I have been a fan for seven decades. Manny did not beat them last year, the defense will get better.
