The only thing I can come up with about the Fireball of the season so far is....

The only problem with that Mr Potter is I’m a New York Jets fan and I’m still waiting for the Positive to roll around. HA
I feel your pain. The positive I saw was Woody calling out Fields and Glenn starting him. Hall had a good game. Wonder how long he'll be a Jet?

Franklin broke his own Cardinal rule. Instead of focusing on the next game, he allowed the playoff and National Title talk way too soon. That should have been stopped immediately. The team did not play loose and free. Both coordinators were letdowns and Oregon beat Penn State 3 times.

BS. If we go 3-9 did they beat us nine times? We stink. Period.

Mr. Potter's thread was basically asking what happened. Yes, the team is not very good. The thread asked, "Why?" I gave one thought. Things went bad early and have continued to steamroll. Franklin hired Kotelnicki and Knowles. They are major disappointments. Team isn't deep enough at linebacker or defensive tackle. And the wide receivers can't get open. Too much focus on the big picture, not enough focus on the little things. Too many square pegs that don't fit into round holes. Simple to say they stink. Question is why? I gave one man's opinion.

This might not be a popular post and I am sure I will get banned but maybe those recruits weren't really as good as their star ranking. It is no secret that Rivals catered to the Bigger schools when it came to ratings. More clicks meant more money. I watched the OSU game and Penn St. was manhandled and if it wasn't for the fumble the score probably would have been worse

Zero chance you get banned for saying this. Less than zero.

I'm thinking in hindsight after this train wreck has played out - that last year's team wasn't as good as everyone thought. They won in OT vs USC, beat BG by a TD and Minn by 1 point, then got the easiest draw in the playoff to win a few games (although they should have won that ND game). Then they lose Warren who the entire O ran through and Carter on D who was the third overall pick in the draft. They just ended up not being as loaded as we all thought and hoped this year.

Still they lost in double OT to Ore (who were aided by a controversial overturned fumble call at a critical moment), ran into the worst possible trap of a very athletic running QB at UCLA 5 days after their only really athletic LB goes out for the season with an ACL tear (losing Rojas has just come back to haunt this team so many times with QBs running wild) and had the ball at the 9 yard line to tie the game with 37 sec left, throw a pic in the end zone against NW on the first drive + fumble a punt inside their own 10 yard line late in the 3rd quarter to lose by 1 pt., etc. etc.

Obviously great teams would never be that close with these UCLA or NW teams, but they might have ended up a decent team with a few different bounces. There are many issues, but I think ultimately lack of LB depth/talent and terrible TE blocking have been the death knells. It's all moot now as - like my golf game - will require a complete reboot to move forward.

I think this cluster**** of a season was caused by 3 reasons: (1) Tyler Warren was a much bigger part of the offense than we thought. He will probably be the NFL rookie of the year. Losing him hurt a lot. (2) Similar with Abdul Carter and Tony Rojas. They were a major part of the defense and losing them created a tremendous void. (3) Knowles. He insists on playing a complicated defense that no player can learn in a year. Thus, our defense sucks.
