Yep.

Still waiting for Leo (and his Earth-is-getting-too-hot buddies) to say they should cancel these energy-wasting Hollywood festivals, though. The whole thing could be handled by email.

Also, since they're completely unaware of their hypocrisy, they should've had Bill Clinton deliver the "rape culture" speech.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the racist Academy for my white privilege that gave me this award. I am also grateful that the ever growing danger climate change did not destroy the planet before this award show tonight just so I can be the voice of the voiceless poor and disenfranchised folk that need my movies to keep going on. Our movies are what helped the Civil Rights movement get jump started and is the No. 1 solution to stop campus rape.

Thank you, Jews for the gobs of money you give me to play make believe and to help me have sex with vapid whores. And finally, thank you to Xenu, that great big alien bastard in the sky that is the source of our negative energy but is my inspiration for getting a comfortable Operating Thetan level. Oh, and thank you director for your vision and bravery...BLACK LIVES MATTER."

Rape culture is political?

It's a bogus lie by liberals that gets repeated constantly. There is no rape epidemic in the U.S. The debunked gov't study that cites 20 percent of women are getting raped is total BS. Look at the study they used (two whole schools in Toronto, online surveys, questions that never actually ask directly and had a majority of students that didn't even live on campus). Americans don't need to be told to take rape seriously. We already do.

What is super funny is that this same group is so concerned about rape culture but then advocates for bringing in migrants that are legitimately known for their rape culture. Just ask Europe. If you bring this up, you're a "xenophobe."

Back to ignore you go, sock.

There is no government study saying 20% of women are getting raped, it's stating 20% of women are getting sexually assaulted. I'm not surprised you're having trouble with that delineation.

But, based on numerous surveys, 12% of women in US colleges answered affirmatively to being raped, either forcibly, while incapacitated, or drug induced. Not just sexually assaulted, which includes physical and verbal harassment, but raped. That's 1 in 8 females attending US colleges.

The study that Biden and others site report sexual assault statistics fairly consistently with other national surveys conducted and authenticated through peer review.

I'm not sure why you would want to dismiss this so quickly when you don't have a solid grasp on the situation and its related studies/evidence.

Back to ignore you go, sock.

Wait, you had me on ignore, then responded? You're kinda awful at using the ignore feature.

???

Maybe you don't know--- that Joe B. was invited to give the big speech about campus rape and sexual assault?

Yep, I know. Just because Joe Biden is harassing a female then the issue becomes political? Sure, Biden's a hypocrite, but that shouldn't and doesn't belittle the problem.

Okay.

I'm not belittling it. It is an odd choice (though not as much as Bill Clinton would've been!) since Old Joe is the kind of grabby/hands-on kind of guy that you might find in some of those campus sexual assault statistics.

I think most people would admit that it becomes somewhat political when you invite a politician to participate in the program. They knew what they were doing... especially in an election year and their top pick being a female. It was just the Oscars being blatant about what everybody already knows, with regard to their politics.

I don't know... I don't watch the Oscars every year. Have there been Republicans on the show for any great causes?

That's difficult. There have been a lot. The academy generally get it wrong every year in most categories. Going back ten years I would say these stand out. Crash is just outside the ten years or it would be my number one.

1. King's speech - best picture 2010
2. Colin Firth - best actor - King's speech 2010
3. Tom Hooper - best director - King's speech 2010
4. Danny Boyle - best Director - slumdog - 2008
5. The Artist - best picture - 2011

There are a lot that I didn't agree with or wanted someone else to win, but I could still justify their pick. These five cannot be justified.
Disagree. King's Speech and Firth were awesome.

Lol...I knew Stallone wouldn't win. The Oscars are rigged. There's no way Hollywood is going to let guys like Stallone, Michael Keaton, or Bill Murray win an acting Oscar. Each time they were the favorite and they came out a loser. Hollywood doesn't like former comedy guys or action stars winning Oscars for serious films.

Oscars are liberal? :scream: Then why didn't they nominate anyone of color for any awards. I thought only conservative white males like me where racist like that. ;)

Saw today, 2/29/16, that viewership of the Oscars was down 8% in part due to the diversity controversy. I predict within 5 years the Oscars will be a shadow of their former self. The show will be off network TV due to terrible ratings and relegated to some channel few watch or get.

No way they will pass up the opportunity to parade themselves around and use the platform to push agendas. They don't care to lose money on that stuff.

This group of narcissists who get $200k gift bags, fly in private jets from all over the world to come to the Oscars to publicly pat themselves on the back, pretend to give an eff about "the little people" by talking about issues of race, gender wage gap, climate control, etc...all when this could be handled by email or mail.

Seriously, Leo, the big douche that is all about the planet, choose to get on his private jet to get to the awards show, got driven in a fossil fuel burning limousine just to get in front of a bunch of people to accept a trophy, get on a soapbox and then hurried off to a party and then back on the limousine and back on the private jet to a mansion.

The link doesn't prove anything wrong in regards to my post. It's total hypocrisy to do all of this climate control crap while jetting all over the world and owning a yacht and private jet.

It's like being against lions getting killed but you eat lion meat and have your own butcher to filet lions.

So he should spend all of his money and time on these causes? I thought you guys didn't like to be told how to spend your money? I mean the guy isn't supposed to spend any money on himself? He has to spend it all on his causes or he is otherwise a hypocrite? Haha that's dumb. If I had the time and resources I could probably make a case that flying in a private jet is much more energy efficient than using commercial airlines. The fact is the guy has dedicated a huge portion of his life and his resources to fight for causes he believes in. If you want to hate on that, let's face it you hate on anything outside of your limited worldview, then go for it hoss. Hate, hate, and more hate. That's all you bring to the table.

Lolll dude posts perfect sarcastic retort showing that Leo in fact hasn't done much of anything....

...but dude wasn't being sarcastic.

That's a pretty big fail, tbh.

Lollll dude...

I encourage you to listen to some Leo interviews. He literally goes out and skydives, destroys the atmosphere for the fun of it, then sits down and says things like "yaknow, one day our earth won't be here. That's pretty serious".

He's about as dumb child actor/hollywood/bro as it gets....obviously, as evident by his entire existence.

These people are entertainers. Why people actually listen to the stiff they regurgitate is hilarious. We are close to electing them to lead our country, tbh.

I ain't a fan of Leo, I thought Hardy was more interesting in the Revenant and the Oscar for Best Actor should have gone to Jacob Tremblay from Room. That would have been glorious on so many levels.

But Leo is the only actor that I know of who is putting his money where his mouth is, which is to say in a lot of places, for this issue. He's considered carbon neutral, as his private jet trips to get the mail every morning are offset by his investment in clean energy projects, massive reforestation efforts, and environmental protection causes.

Bill Simmons had a good take on Leo bringing up environmental stuff: just settle down. He's not the guy. If you want an opinion on how to treat herpes, or what mix of drugs to keep an erection going long enough to satisfy the entire VIP section at a nice club, then Leo's your guy.

Opening monologue was pretty good. It was pleasantly funny and definitely awkward, but really just liked seeing Tracy Morgan act like Tracy Jordan. And the rip on Jada was A+.
