The pass dropped by #3 Anthony Evans on 2nd and 9 on the final drive...

I was yelling at the TV. Evans also did a bonehead offsides earlier in the game. But he had made a great catch earlier in the drive.

That made it 3rd and 9, which to our advantage, moved Azz State out of prevent D and up to try to stop us, which in turn, led to #0 Brenen Thompson burning the DB for the game winning TD.

So even a mistake can work out well sometimes.

A fortuitous drop (if there is one). It stopped the clock and allowed us to get the play set and not be so rushed, maybe led to better execution on the TD. That might have been the next they had played called anyway, but not being hurried had to help.

You know, in years past that ball that Evans let bounce off of his hands would have bounced directly into the hands of a waiting defender.

It's a new day in Starkvegas. Maybe the Indians have been satiated.
well, they took our best D-lineman as tribute

Anyone else notice this? The throw to Thompson hit his facemask first. LOL Could have gone so wrong...

There is a lot about that play that defied how it usually goes for us.

They sent a blitzing safety that was going to be totally unblocked…. And he tripped over Traore’s feet and never made it to the QB.
And every OL kept their guy off Shapen for an extra 2 seconds, which set the play up, it all had to go right and it did. Unusual for State at that moment of the game

I was at the game with my wife and parents, and when Evans dropped that pass, I was yelling at my dad “That is so Mississippi State! That is Mississippi State right there for you!” And the next play is the touchdown. Unbelievable turn of events. I can’t remember another game where it went from despair to absolute joy so quickly.

The false start wasn't totally his fault. On 2nd and 10, we gained 9 to set up 3rd and 1. Rushed to the line to go with tempo. Evans was the last receiver getting to his spot, and as soon as he stopped, Shapen clapped for the snap. Problem was, Evans had to take 1 step up to be on the line, so he was then moving forward during the snap.

Sometimes we hurry too much. That was a huge 3rd and 1, which turned into 3rd and 6, then 4th and 6, then turnover on downs... We needed the offense to get something going then. Would've been a good spot to bring in the Kamario package and run it twice if needed.

Evans didn't jump - he was moving up to get on the LOS and we snapped when he moved. It was just horrible timing.

It's crazy how the pass rusher being tripped by the TE probably won us the game. Everybody is criticizing ASU for not having a deep safety, but if that guy doesn't trip, it's probably a sack. At the very least, Shapen doesn't get the throw off on time.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch Wyatt's film study.

Pretty crazy stat that Anthony Evans had more catches Saturday night than he had his entire UGA career…. I told my buddies after the game I will gladly take all of OU’s and UGA “leftover” WR’s they have no use for.

The “Urination Simulation” Egg Bowl was pretty close. It wasn’t despair exactly, since it would have been tied, but you couldn’t love our chances. It comes close on the elation for sure.

2015 Arkansas comes to mind. They lined up for a chip shot field goal that would have given them the lead in the final minute, and we blocked it to win the game.

No. The injuns were temporarily disoriented, disconcerted, and discombobulated by the new strobing and dancing LED lights. By the time TN rolls around, they will have recovered and be back in fighting form.
