Starts this week. If MSU was a turning point, if there was a moral victory to be found, then we need to beat Indiana.

I'll concede OSU and Michigan, though I would like us to stay competitive.

But Wisconsin and Nebraska are vulnerable, especially with Nebraska game here in NJ.

I don't want to hear that this is not possible.

We can go at 5-7 if our APR is higher than any of the other 5-7 schools.

With more bowls this year,this may come into play.

Yeah, you probably shouldn't Google the APR rankings. Another nail in the Flood coffin. And Barnwell & the burglars aren't even factored in yet.

I have no idea what the APR will be for the current season but the past 3 years under Flood have been the best in RU history.

the only rating that matters is 86th

... that's our RPI in the country right now. but hey, at least we're a couple spots better than James Madison!!

What's next? We can go 4-8 and make a bowl if we have fewer arrests than other 4-8 schools?!? The age of participation trophies has now reached college football.

It's essential that RU beats Indiana to have a chance to get to 6 wins. Given, the way everything has gone on with the program, 6 wins would be a pretty good showing. After Indiana, I believe possible wins would be Neb at home, @ Army and Maryland at home.

Yes - Wisconsin and Nebraska are both down enough that IF we play like we did against MSU - we could sneak out with a win. Then again, if we play like we did against PSU, they will kill us. The path to 6 looks much better than it did just a few weeks ago - but defintely - a loss to Indiana and we can shut things down for the year.

Not really. Even in the Big East it was a bowl that provided a BCS opponent. The moral victory bowl is ending up taking the place of a Sun Belt team in Mobile at 5-7 or 6-6. The Pinstripe would actually require us to get to 7 and more likely 8 wins.

Good man! Any ahole can ***** and moan about everything that goes wrong. But the players and staff have a job ahead of them and I do agree we can beat anyone at home IF our fans our loud like we were last week, last year vs PSU, 2006 vs Ville, 2004 vs MSU, 2007 vs USF. If we can play like we did last week against MD and Nebraska there is no reason why we cannot win those games.

We have had far too many games where our fans whine and moan and do nothing to energize the team. Then they come on this board and do more of the same.

And stop telling our D backs to turn around when they are mirroring the WR in a man with no safety help. Opposing fans are laughing at you.

If moral victories total 6-7 in the official W-L column, I take em

Moral victories won't make me happy if they don't help bowl eligibility.
For me MSU wasn't a moral victory, but a losing game that showed RU FB could play better than it showed in the games it won.
But it still was a loss and no matter how I try to spin it, the word victory doesn't belong when describing Rutgers side of that game.
MSU fans can claim the V word and if they want, put moral in front of it because I won't use it to describe RU's loss.

Pinstripe is NEVER a great, or even good, option. It shouldn't even be an option. I will never again set foot in that place to watch a football game. Horrible sight-lines, horrible field condition, horrible parking situation; the place just sucks. I wish that place would crumble to the ground so we'd never face the threat of having to play there again.

I'd love to get in a bowl game because of the invaluable extra practices for the team (don't see it happening this year, but would be ecstatic to be proved wrong). But if we do go bowling, I hope it's literally any place else other than the Pinstripe Bowl.

If I hear one more fan yell "turn around!!" I'm gonna slap them. The CB is doing that intentionally people. They know when to break up the pass. They wait for the WR to do 1 of several things that will indicate where the ball is and when to break it up

When it happens, I'll be satisfied, but it will quickly turn into being disappointing when I think how RU could have done better, like the type of season I thought possible before season started. .
Remember I'm a RU fan and will always find a reason to be disappointed in the good things I began to think wouldn't happen.

Disclaimer: blowout losses to OSU, and Wisconsin will have a lot to do if I don't feel completely satisfied winning 5 of the 7 games left.
Because of the issues surrounding RU FB this year, my usual overly optimistic outlook has been tempered with a slight amount of pessimism creeping in there and now sometimes look for a dark spot in the white cloud floating in a beautiful blue sky.

Is it really that crazy? We won 7 last year.

I mean the idea should not be to set low goals so a to avoid disapointment right?

We also beat WSU and Umich last year. Probably going to lose to Umich. Which means we have to beat Wisconsin, Ind, Neb, Army, and Umd. If that happens, I'll give Flood another extension. I'm not setting the bar low either. 7 wins is rather high considering we only have 7 games left. So you're saying we'll go 5-2 in our last 7 games. Those are rather high expectations. 4-3 would be impressive from what I've seen so far and considering the circumstances.

Or could improve enough to have a chance to upset them.
You and some other RU fans can feel the doom and gloom that might be in-store for Rutgers in some of its future games and find ways to express that feeling to other RU fans.
But I'll hold out a smidgen of hope and never give up on the chance RU might upset an opponent some already accepted a loss to before game is even played and not worry about being called unrealistic or seeing future games wearing Scarlet covered glasses, because that's the truth and not ashamed to admit it.
I know good fans can be realistic and look at some games as probable losses, but there are some ( like me) that refuse to be that way and look at every game with Scarlet glasses before it starts.
Upsets do happen and I try to look at every game Rutgers should be the underdog ( no matter how big of one they will be) as a game that RU might just get an upset win

Michigan has given up 38 points in 6 games. 24 in their opener and ZERO in the last 3 games. Yes, upsets can, do, and will happen, but when analyzing a future match up try I being somewhat realistic (doesn't mean you, I, and everyone else, won't be cheering are leaving asses off either in the stands, on our couch, or at a bar, for the underdog!!).

Let's be honest, we have the least chance to upset Michigan of anyone remaining. They are the best team in the conference right now whatever the pundits say, and it's a road game. I think Michigan will finish top 10, MSU and tOSU will each lose to Michigan and one other B1G game.

Nothing against being realistic, but ( for me) it helps to hold out hope for a win in future games no matter how slim that hope is.
I find it hard to look forward to a game hoping RU won't be beat that bad.
Thinking there is always a chance of an upset makes me not dread a future loss before the game is even played.
I know those feeling RU doesn't have a chance are not wanting a loss, just expecting one and not holding out much hope for an upset.
That's something I find hard to do and am always looking for a reason RU can upset a heavy favored team before I allow myself to be willing to accept an RU loss before game has started.
With Michigan, hoeing the Spartans expose weaknesses that RU can exploit and MSU plays a game today that knocks some of the confidence the Wolverine players have now because of the way this season has been since losing to Utah ( which has been outstanding ).
Unrealistic maybe, but only saying that's what I'm hoping for, not that any other RU FB fan should be that way.

I actually thought we had a really good shot at upsetting MSU surprisingly. I look forward to every game. I yell, scream, and cheer regardless of our opponent. I go into every week thinking we can win..... But when looking at it from a big picture, I don't see 7 wins. 6 yes, but no to 7.
