The Patriots, and not the ones from New England!

The colors of red, white, and blue, and the name, the "Patriots" are indicative of a very proud area of Newport News.

Denbigh as struggled for many years to compete against the tough "beach" competition. The notable exception was their 2013 campaign.

That year, riding the arm and legs of QB Terrence Dingle, the Patriots went three games deep in the playoffs. Since then they have not been able to post a winning season.

Will this be the year they surprise some of their competition? Can they at least reach .500 this season? Is their rising senior, 6'4" 190lb QB, what they need to lead them to more victories?

The only connotation Denbigh has for me is Denbigh Toyota. I must have heard their radio commercials a million times in college in the eighties. That, and "There's Christmas in the air at Thal-himers!" The power of a good jingle.

Denbigh's another of those eastern schools that, for me, are out there in the ether somewhere. I checked their VHSL-Reference page. Ouch. The school's been open since '66 and only had one playoff appearance prior to 2013. One playoff win, ever.

Thanks for helping. He's just anxious to get through the alphabet and talk about that Dimwittie team.

He's just trying to give those that pay attention to the board something to talk about. It's good to contribute and bring something positive to the table. How fortunate we'd be if we had more posters like DP. We could all learn a thing or two from him, especially regarding board etiquette and keeping things positive.

Now what fun would that be?

Thank you for the kind words and support Mike and Spartan.
