Until he has the right guy for his system we won’t know if will work in the SEC.
The verdict is still out.

Need an arm and someone mobile and a little more passing. Straight passing 70 to 80 percent of the time ain't gonna cut it. Air raid concept guys that used to work with him all changed. Broadcasters even said that tonight.

Show me an offense at Mississippi State that requires an NFL level QB to work, and I will show you a failed offensive system at Mississippi State.

He's had two years and brought in at least 3 of "his" QBs. And this offense looks every bit as bad as most other MSU offenses we've seen throughout the years, and worse than several of them.

Edit: and don’t forget, he tried to sign Will Rogers when he was at Washington St. so it’s not like he doesn’t have a QB he wanted now.

He also needs a junior/senior heavy OL that has played together as a unit in his system. His system can work. We’ve seen glimpses.

I don't feel like Rogers is a bad QB he is doing everything he can within his ability but this is sec and at some point you must deliver or a change has to be made. Question is do we have anybody on roster that is better?

QB Doesn't matter once you get in the redzone. Unless you have a Nick Fitz-type guy running it.

The air raid is ineffective in the red zone. The whole premise is receivers in open space. There's not enough "space" to work with in the red zone. Works great moving the ball between the 20s, but you better get it in before you get close (against good defenses). That is the fallacy of the "Air Raid". And we are stuck with it

This has been my thought all along. Sure, when Mumme and Leach began the air raid, mobile quarterbacks with strong arms weren’t really a thing. But now, there is such a thing. I’d have to believe that a mobile QB with a good arm could really have success making the defense decide who they need to account for.

Rogers isn't a playmaker. The fact is he creates little or nothing. If he has a fairly open receiver he can make the pass, but if not, he is going to throw the ball away and it doesn't matter what the down is or where we are on the field. OM, and almost every team in the country, would have a losing record if their QB never left the pocket. The question is whether he doesn't create due to the system or whether he doesn't create due to his own limitations. It would be interesting to see how a proven passer with the ability to run would perform in this offense (if Leach would even allow that).

He’s got two of them , sawyer and Locke. We just need a little time. Those two are true air raid q bs and will be studs

I guess you haven’t seen any Leach teams the last 20 years.

of course the q b in the red zone matters
