Agree that the #1 recruit having a tie to OM is helpful. Also helps that Treadwell has a friend and former teammate in Oxford. Highly doubtful that OM would land either player if not for Denzel N and Sandifer.
You'll probably disagree, but the "Orgeron approach" to recruiting as you call it could also be construed as working really hard at recruiting and beating other schools to the punch.
"Treadwell not being pursued heavily by the big boys" is off base. Since when are Michigan and Oklahoma not big boys? Everybody thought Treadwell was a lock to Michigan during the summer months. But he cooled on them for whatever reason. Also OK St. finished the 2011 season ranked #3.... so while they're not a traditional "big boy" they have been good recently.
"If Florida or Alabama really wanted him"...... both of those schools recruit lights out, but many would argue that AL under Saban and FL under Muschamp are not the best places for top notch wide receivers. Both use conservative, run first offenses. I must admit that Julio Jones was a physical freak at AL and Amari Coooper looks really, really good so far.
I think you're spot on about the Rebs knowing how to manipulate the media. Yup, if there's any school that the media promotes, protects, favors, is manipulated by, whatever it's Ole Miss.
