Schools that played against him and are familiar with his game. We don’t know what kind of role Pike might have in mind. We need to build quality depth.

Is he better than Miller?

I highly doubt we’re recruiting a Coppin kid. They looked terrible against us. Nothing Pike saw couldve impressed him.

Thank you! All these genius’s here. Please. We are evaluating. Man RU fans just love to complain.
So every other coach has determined that he's a CAA, A-10 level player at best but Rutgers is the secret genius. Okay.

It doesn't matter unless he's a take. Maybe someone on our staff is doing him a favor by "contacting" him so he can list us, who knows. But this guy is not a HM player.

Everything here says defensive stopper who helps other guards who aren't going to be good defensive players. We are also adding another offensive 1st player in Griffiths, who has already acknowledged he is working to become a better defensive player.

Someone has to keep the guards from these other teams from blowing by our guards.... if he's got these stats, he's probably got some Caleb traits to him on defense. Do I think this translates better than a Jalen Miller?? 99.9% yes, if this is your 5th guard......people complain about the lack of quality depth and suddenly this type of player can't replace Miller, Palmquist, Reiber or Aiden Terry on scholarship??

2021-22 (R-Freshman): Led the Nation in Steals Per Game (2.94) and ranked second in total steals (94) to set a NCAA-era single-season school record… BOXTOROW All-American… 1ST Team All-MEAC… MEAC All-Defensive Team… 1x MEAC Player of the Week… 2x MEAC Defensive Player of the Week… Hit 4 game-winners in the final ten seconds of games, including three buzzer-beaters, both of which led the NCAA…

If mag needs a redshirt then you bring in a defensive specialist like this kid in

You kick the tire and check under the hood. Then again, this board is full of geniuses who know what's best for Rutgers. 99.9% of you have no clue what players are staying or leaving. Pike is doing his diligence on players who are in the portal that can potentially be replacements. You have to see how the pieces fit before making a decision. 3, 2, 1, and here comes the crew that will double down by calling out others.

Why? Well for one, the kid probably leaked it, and we don’t know how much interest we truly have, but also our best defender graduated and our 2nd best is coming off a major injury…

Jalen Miller is unplayable and not a D1 player. If this young man can score then he is worth a look for depth. Defense will be important always but we are evolving away from a lock down street fight defensive team. More athletes, shooters, and scorers on the way.

The team and style everyone loved over the last 3/4 years graduated with Caleb. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Why is Rutgers the only high major kicking the tires? We're smarter than everyone else?

Do we know how seriously Rutgers is even pursuing this guy? Sounds like this is based off of a tweet where the kid lists schools he has heard from.

A 30% three point shooter and 60% free throw shooter is not quality depth.
Pike is a pretty good talent evaluator. This kid may be a back up option but I’m not going to say he isn’t quality depth. RUs bench was not able to play when they needed them. Pike needs to improve every spot.

In some ways, maybe.. I do think our staff has done much better than the consensus evaluation of our talent before they got to Rutgers.

That said, we are hopefully moving away from that.

Also, what @cm_13 said.. it's not like this guy in on our roster. Our name just showed up on a tweet, who even knows why.

At best he would be a replacemnt for Miller.Rutgers needs repacements that are better than current bench players. This isn't about complaing but rather expressing opinions on what needs to be done to improve the offense for next season.

No offense to the kid but if we want to take a step forward we shouldn’t be measuring the quality of the transfer against miller
Sure it is. This is likely a replacement for Miller. If we upgrade every position we will be turning over this off-season, sum all the upgrades up and we’re taking a big step forward

Agreed but I think his point is Miller is not a D1 player. So when we are looking to upgrade every position the bar should be much higher.

I mean, how much higher should we expect for someone we're asking to play situational minutes.

Are you watching the tournament? Look at what they come with as far as a 6/7 man . Hell look at our own conference. We need someone who can compete and at least hold their own . All teams have bench and situational minute players and they play at a high level. Not a ok to good undersized on the ball defender who cannot dribble, shoot, rebound, or score .

It's almost like some people don't understand that Coaches bring in certain players when they envision them having a specific role on a team that needs to be filled.
Oh we understand! If Pike envisioned a specific role for him then that’s all on Pike because he offers nothing at a D1 level.

Sorry, I did not know we were in the presence of the great talent evaluator and D1 team builder RUDivision, haha, lol. I'll stand down.
