I just watched the movie with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks about the Washington Post publishing an article about a classified govt commissioned study that showed members of our military and presidents knew Vietnam was a lost cause but kept at anyway. Really good movie, I recommend it. Not sure how liberal the movie maker may have gotten with some of the facts, but I think it’s supposed to be fairly historically accurate. I recommend watching it. It also highlights how important free press is to our country. We need them to be checking all elected officials.

I can't imagine how things would have gone if we had today's press/news organizations covering the Pentagon Papers. The news people back then, both press and broadcast, understood the importance of a free press and didn't treat the news as entertainment.

It's a good film but incomplete because it de-emphasizes the roles of Daniel Ellsburg and the New York Times. It would have been better as a miniseries with that additional information included.
