I haven't seen it. I heard it's the favorite for Best Picture (strange for a western, they're usually snubbed)

Anyone checked it out? Is it worthy of the praise? I only ask because I can barely tolerate Kirsten Dunst, and I don't want to sit through 2 hours of her, unless it's worthi it.

My girlfriend and I watched it a couple weeks ago. We both pretty much agreed it was a waste of time. Story was muddled. Not a single likable character. And not really an “old west” Western, since it’s set in 1925 Montana. Not sure why the award hype. I’d give it a D.

I watched about 30 minutes of it then quit. I was temporarily stunned that Benedict Cumberbatch could be so terribly miscast. I was thinking he'd meld into the character but it became unbearable for me to wait. He's about as much of a cowboy as Kanye West is.

Think of it as the love child of Legends of the Fall and Brokeback Mountain. Benedict Cumberbatch did a good job in his roll but the movie itself wasn’t very good
This pretty much nails it.
So, it's a preachy period piece with a respected actor that I assume plays a closeted gay man.

Sounds like a shoe-in for Best Picture.
SPOOOOOIIIIIIILERRRR….

Again, you nailed it as well. I was pumped because I love westerns but this was of course about a closeted gay Cowboy. Can’t just have a good ol western story, had to throw in the gay twist. Also, it’s pretty sick because he starts to try and turn a young boy he’s mentoring to be gay as well.

No surprise you said it was the favorite for awards.

The Power of the Dog the book is excellent. Written by Don Winslow and its about the Mexican drug trade and a damn good read. Anyone who liked Traffic would love his books, especially POTD and The Cartel.

Also wrote the Border, The Force and Savages (which was a movie.)

Side note...Winslow is a far left woke but he's a damn good writer.

I thought this was about big strong dogs or the power dogs have over their owners.
The one below is the one we got back in July and is 85lbs at 8 months last Sunday.

Is that a kangal? Leonberger?
Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. Kangals and Anatolian Shepherds both come from the Anatolian region of Turkey so, I believe they came from the same ancestor. They look a lot alike, but the Kangal is a little taller with less fur and slimmer. Anatolian Shepherds get pretty big as will she since the other half of the mix is Great Pyrenees who are also large.

I have three Pyrenees mixes, 2 of which are big and one who is medium size. The other big one seen below is now 11 and getting on in years. Not sure what her mix is but I think it was a tank as she is stout. She struggles getting up sometimes now so, we believe she will not be with us much longer. She thinks she is a lap dog.

Yeah I have a Pyrenees mix. She's mixed with an Australian shepherd though and looks like the world's biggest collie. That dog will be powerful.

I have read all of his books. Easy reads and he does he research prior to writing. He has another books this Spring coming out about Boston and mafia families. Cannot wait.

If you have not read the Force or the Border, put those two in line next after what you currently have. Will be great movies.

I love Narcos on Netflix and reading Power and the Cartel made it super easy to know who everyone is.

It's only being lauded because of the woke element of the film......it's not good at all. Boring with no real flow or meaning.
How this got made to be some revelation is really a joke.
