It Must be Johnson. If he leads Us to victory against So Carolina, he is our man for the rest of season.

Hot hand baby! Roll with the mojo!

DB should've been benched regardless after UF, just to see what SJ has to offer.

Things seemed to have a natural flow with SJ. It looked like he had the confidence of the team.

There's no reason to rush DB back, and there is no reason to shelve SJ after the showing he had.

Hopefully CMS is wise enough to keep all QB info under his hat this week. IMO, it would be to his advantage to allow USC to believe Barker will start. If not that, at least say it will be a game-time decision.

While it was against NMST, how can you say he didn't look great? As if he was just mediocre?

17-22 and 310, 3 TDs, 0 INTs. That's pretty damn good. Against anyone.

Now, can he do the same against USC? To be determined.

I can't really agree with this. The offense looked great yes. But, Drew hasn't faced the 2nd worse defense in College football yet. I think Drew would have lit them up as well.

But we know that Drew has been the better of the 2 in practice facing the worst defense in college football.

Until we get better OL play, a drop-back, pocket passer is not going to work for UK. If a QB can't get 2.5 to 3 seconds to set his feet and get his pass off, he's not going to be very good, I don't care how accurate he is. You can't throw the ball running for your life, or standing on your head.
Johnson is the right QB for UK at this point. Lot of poise, fast enough to get outside and pass, or scramble if receivers are covered. He can buy time with his feet, which Barker cannot.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

do we really know who looks better in practice? do we really know how that translates to saturdays? seems alot of guys got PT based on practice, then couldnt get it done on the field and have been replaced. i like the way johnson spread the ball around.

I'd go with Johnson. Looked confident and seemed like he had the team's confidence as well. NMSU may not be a great baramoter but I like what we saw! Think I might play that freshman back as well. Talk about determinded!

Thought he looked excellent yesterday and yes he got the ball to his"studs"... should definitely be the starter on Saturday

I missed the first part of the game but didn't drew get to face them his first series and threw a pick on his first pass? SJ came in and three 22 times with no picks. If stoops runs Barker back out there next week to start against SC he should be fired on the spot (should be already but besides the point). SJ adds another dynamic to this offense that DB can't add and that's not even debatable.

With the defense we have, you can literally put Tom Brady in at QB, but we will only beat trash teams. USC is pretty terrible. But I think they win. East Carolina would beat us, so one can only assume USCjr will beat us.

Drew throws it to the other team too much..let him sit and watch a while
I agree. I thought SJ looked sharp. He got the offense going and seemed they were more confident. I can't say much for the defense. I even made a comment that the coach should have the offense stay on the field and play defense too. They can't do worse than our defense.

They think Elam is the best in practice if that tells anybody anything.

We have not had a running QB since Cobb. Give Johnson a chance to perform.

SJ passes the ball to Conrad which makes him far more qualified to play the position than our last 2 QBs.

I like Drew so I hope he can get healthy and start playing like he did against SMU in the first half again.

If you've paid attention Drew was hurt on one of the first plays of the game. Also, (which baffles me) Drew was never allowed to hand the ball to Boom. I think NMST had 14 points before UK handed the ball off for the first time.

The first two series had nothing to do with Drew. I think it was the worst play calling Gran has had.

So I am guessing you want drew back out there then despite the play SJ put forth. Drew played quite a bit against Florida and resembled his entire play of last years UOFL debacle and the 2nd half of so miss game to start this year. I like DB but he needs to serve as a backup to SJ as he brings what this team needs and allowing him to play and gain confidence is the only shot this team has.

I would start Johnson against USCjr. That being said, let's see how Johnson does if a team has week to prepare for him. I have a feeling we are going to see 8 in the box and USCjr is going to make Johnson beat them with the med/long pass.

I'm just saying that Drew hasn't had the luxury to play against a weak defense like SJ. I don't know which QB I want back there. It'd be a whole easier to see how they practice.

Johnson, even if Barker is healthy. His dual threat capability makes us harder to defend...would love to see a little Wildcat with Johnson running it. I don't think SC is any great shakes defensively, despite their stats. Johnson's deep ball to Badet was a beauty...my only concerns with him were his ability to go down the field. He checked the box with that throw. He deserves to start.
