The Recruiter has become as divisive as Tebow- if you just read these threads...

it's hilarious.

Bury Supporters- The Recruiter has made State basketball what it is and put us on a national stage
Stansbury Sixpack- He's slipping and it's time to hire someone else
Bury Supporters- well, we're just lil ol Mize State- our job really isnt very attractive

Stansbury Sixpack- 75%+ of BCS schools have made a Sweet 16 since The Recruiter took over- that's embarrassing
Bury Supporters- We are 3rd in the SEC in wins since he has been coach!!! We average 20 wins a season!!!
Stansbury Sixpack- So wins matter- not March???
Bury Supporters- Fire Kennedy and his 20 wins per season ***!!!

Bury Supporters- we probably cant hire a name coach
Stansbury Sixpack- 2 of our 3 best coaches in history weren't name coaches. Nobody knew wtf Coach K was at Army when Duke hired him

Bury Supporters 2011- we really arent that talented this season...Shane Powers said sooooo!!!!
Bury Supporters 2010- we cant fire him- we will lose all our awesome recruits- we're going to be great next year!!!

Bury Supporters- players get better under him- they love his system
Stansbury Sixpack- did you see the video from last night of one of our players asking another- "wtf was he talking about???"

Bury Supporters- nobody can recruit like he can to State- especially in Mississippi
Bury supporters today- We have no depth!!! We only have 3 good players!!!!

Bury Supporters- its the assistants fault. Let's get some new assistants to work under him that know what they are doing!!!
Stansbury Sixpack- he's had 14 years to hire new assistants. You realize he has the power to hire them anytime he wants right???

At the end of the day neither side should draw lines in the sand about Stans because the records and stats can be skewed either way to make their respective point. Has Stans had NCAA tourney success? No. Has Stans had regular season success? For the most part yes.

I think at this point, the guys that want Stans gone are people that are willing to push all in with the nut flush draw after the flop. The figure worst case scenario they are a 3-1 underdog, but could be close to a coin flip if they have overcards. They figure that they know what they have with Stans, a good enough coach that is never going to get over the top to a sweet sixteen or anything close. They figure a new coach couldn't do worse, ignoring that other SEC schools have thought exactly that and ended up doing worse. There is no right answer. MSU could hire a Bruce Pearl, but could also hire a Darrin Horn.

At this point the people fed up with Stans just want a change because they are willing to gamble and in their mind, MSU going 16-16 and not going to the NIT is the same as going 22-10 and just missing the tourney and/or losing in the first round. They want to go big or not go at all. I can respect that opinion, but looking at the SEC you sure have to be aware of the risks. The SEC is at best the 4th best conference in the country right now, and becoming irrelevant is way too easy to do.

and because I do, I wish he go ahead and bow out. I've got some good memories of his teams. Despite the Xavier game, he coached that '04 club about as well as a man can. He'll go out this season with a winning team, so I wish for his (and his family's) sake that he would retire. Coaches are like Preachers, they lose their effectiveness after being in the same place too long. That's where I think we are with Rick.

The folks who would bear the cost are not on here. I don't think you could raise $10,000 with the folks complaining to buy out or hire a coach.

I'm pretty sure an agent or two has been contacted already

You better think again. There are plenty of season tickets holders on here that likely are not going to be renewing because of this massive cluster17 of a season. We may not be big money donors but we do buytickets. I damn sure won't be renewing ifwe fail to make the NCAA tourney.

Bury Haters - We should hire a new coach b/c winning in March and getting to the Sweet 16 is all that matters<div>Bury Haters - We should be able to hire a great new coach because we're a very good program that is 3rd in the SEC in wins the last 15 years.</div>

The foundation is here for us to be much better than we are right now without having to completely rebuild the program, fanbase, etc. This isn't like coming in to a situation after JWS and the football team. Our problem is that the guy who has held things together can't seem to go any further. So the risk is hiring someone who either A) is awful and makes it much worse; B) is about the same and we hire again in 5 years; or C) takes us to the next level.

defend the "majority" a lot against every thread "bashing" him on here. Just sayin.

I also think it is interesting that usually when something is discussed at length on this board, it usually happens within a short period of time. May be just a coincidence though.

without making a Sweet 16 getting paid 1.3-1.5M per year, and you will have young, aggressive coaches tripping over themselves trying to get this job
