Exactly this. Boo drove a ton and got hacked and it was never called. Chase too.Cats did plenty of driving in and getting hacked taking shots. Esp Boo and Young.
They had two unbelievable 3 pointers One was at the buzzer end of half from half court and another at the end of a shot clock where the Wisconsin player was so out of position and out of control...Not having watched the game (see my previous posts about Cats blowing it every time I watch live), the free throw disparity was what jumped out at me the most.
Looks suspicious. However I wonder if some of it is playing style, not drawing as many fouls because we take outside shots and don’t drive to the basket as much?
Also - when we did get to the line we were 3/8. Should have been at least 6/8.
Furthermore they were above average in 3s and we were just average to slightly below. Swap one missed 3 for them and one made 3 for us and that’s the margin.
Sadly tonight young getting to the line wasn’t helping matters- he missed 4 or 5?Cats did plenty of driving in and getting hacked taking shots. Esp Boo and Young.
I’d say your wrong. We can literally play with anyone and that is a good Wisconsin squad. The worst call all night was when Audige stripped Davis late and they called a foul. Davis ended up missing both but it sucked because Audige would have had a dunk and the NU portion of the crowd would have gone nuts.
BIggest take away from this game is that Wisconsin isn‘t close to being a top 10 team.
Agreed Lunker, that is a great Wisconsin team and they had to have a lot of things go their way to beat us tonight.I’d say your wrong. We can literally play with anyone and that is a good Wisconsin squad.
Good? Sure. Top 8 as in a #2 seed in the tourney level team? No way.I’d say your wrong. We can literally play with anyone and that is a good Wisconsin squad.
Bingo! At least one foul on Nicholson was on reputation and perhaps even both of them. Only saw one angle on MN's first foul, but it sure looked like he tipped the ball before it hit the Wisconsin kid's hand. The second foul was irrefutably atrocious, and in my opinion, was the turning point of the game. Not only would that have established Nicholson as an inside force, but it also would have given Young a few more minutes of rest, which he most probably could have used. They probably couldn't see the play clearly and gave the benefit of the doubt to the perceived better player on the perceived better team. The refs seemed to have read too many pre-game writeups and decided a #8 team was too good to make mistakes or commit fouls.
It was a solid effort by the Cats, but wasn't Wisconsin up ten with just over a minute to go in the game?Agreed Lunker, that is a great Wisconsin team and they had to have a lot of things go their way to beat us tonight.
That most certainly was one of them, and it seemed to me that a lot of those 3 pt shots were pretty well defended. It was a solid effort by the Cats, but wasn't Wisconsin up ten with just over a minute to go in the game?
The thing that went Wisconsin's way that decided the game was that they shot 52% from the field and 53% from three-point range. It's a tribute to how hard the guys played and how they didn't give up that it was as close as it was.
Maybe. But teams that give up 52% overall shooting against coupled with 53% three-point shooting against don't win a lot of games. People want to keep looking to outside factors for losses when the Cats have to focus on their controllables and do a better job on those. That most certainly was one of them, and it seemed to me that a lot of those 3 pt shots were pretty well defended.
This is what I noticed but I never watch post games. They **** on the refs in the post gameI’ve never seen BTN shred the officials from their own conference like this
Why is it every time NU wins a game or plays a higher ranked team close , we get refrains of that team isn’t that good?Good? Sure. Top 8 as in a #2 seed in the tourney level team? No way.
Northwestern -18 FT attempts at home vs Wisconsin26-8 FT disparity. What a f***ing joke.
Both are pr*cks but Allen is about 10x more talented than Davison. You could tell early on that Wisky would be in the bonus early in the second. Ticky tac fouls early put NU in a bad spot. Seems like these guys had a pre-game plan. Boo and Chase are wild so let’s be sure it REALLY is a foul before we bail them out. MN is a foul machine 4 in 13 minutes, let’s be sure to ring him up. Davison is saves veteran he’ll draw contact. Almost predetermined!
BTW, Brad Davison is the biggest punk since Grayson Allen.
When they are done shitting, I will have my turn. I am on my fourth cup of joe this morning, and am getting primed. Where do I find those refs? This is what I noticed but I never watch post games. They **** on the refs in the post game
I was in your camp until I saw them put on a defensive clinic and beat Purdue at West Lafayette. I'd say Johnny Davis is Player-of-the-year so far in the Big Ten. That's what a difference maker he has been. Not an impressive group athletically, but they really play well together (Loyola anyone!).Good? Sure. Top 8 as in a #2 seed in the tourney level team? No way.
Including a 40 footer by them at end of half. Not having watched the game (see my previous posts about Cats blowing it every time I watch live), the free throw disparity was what jumped out at me the most.

Make that very good Wisconsin teamI’d say your wrong. We can literally play with anyone and that is a good Wisconsin squad.
Unfortunately, playing with anyone and beating anyone are not the same thingI’d say your wrong. We can literally play with anyone and that is a good Wisconsin squad.
Don't forget all the foul calls that repeatedly sent them to the line. 26 fta to 8 fta and we wer outscored from the line by 14. NU took 51 shots from inside the arc to 37 for WIS. We scored more from the field and they scored enough more from the line to winIt was a solid effort by the Cats, but wasn't Wisconsin up ten with just over a minute to go in the game?

He actually missed 5 but he got a do over on one of them and that is the one he made so it only counted as 4 missesSadly tonight young getting to the line wasn’t helping matters- he missed 4 or 5?
When I played tennis, I would play good players close but lose, and I would play bad players close but lose.Unfortunately, playing with anyone and beating anyone are not the same thing

To be fair, they were something like 7 of 9 from three in first half (and got fouled on one of their misses) including the one at the buzzer that changed the complexion of the game. They were 2 of 8 for second half but made up for it with a ton of FTsIt was a solid effort by the Cats, but wasn't Wisconsin up ten with just over a minute to go in the game?
